Haymons plan good or bad 4 fans

So i was reading a little about Al Haymon last night and the nbc deal and the rumor is that his plans are to to bring real and big fights to free tv and get rid of ppv (which i dont see happening). I was thinkin at first it didnt make sense but then i got to thinking if this really was his plan he could completely cave GBP and Top Rank you got to think if hes doing free shows im guessing the ufc model somewhat and the rating start to soar and new fans come you would think more and more and more fighters will goto haymon. My guess is he will end up using mayweather promotions as the promoter. It would make sense why arum and oscar are working together and both bad mouthing haymon and also the richard shaefer drama it all actually makes sense. Not to mention you can almost tell haymon is saving the biggest fights for when he makes the move to nbc. Now i also read some fighters will stay at showtime so his nbc deal could be nothing more then what they are doing now with fox sports 1. But there is no doubt the industry is scared that haymon has a plan in the works to completely take over boxing. Now think about it obviously haymon is mostly considered bad for the sport as far as a fan perspective, but just for a minute think if he was able to monopolize the sport and keep taking all the good young fighters bury top rank and gbp as far as real competition for young popular fighters then i could see a ufc type thing with haymon working and growing the sport more then we have seen in decades. You got to think if he has everyone it no longer makes sense to baby them but to actually have them all fight eachother which i think hes just waiting for nbc to do. I just find it fascinating that haymon could actually be the best thing that happened to boxing in disguise of the villain and it just seems to me like oscar and bob are working together not to end the cold war like the pretend maybe a fight here or there but the real reason is because they are worried about what haymon is going to do. I dont know i just find it intriguing that we may of had haymon all wrong and he may actually make the sport better when all is said and done. Maybe its a dream but having all big name fighters under one banner who is willing to work with everyone but top rank anyway is a great thing for fans at least. Fighters not so much. Im sure this opens a pandoras box as most people cant stand the guy but im just playing devils advocate here curious what your guys thoughts are on a haymon led ufc type boxing world. Please keep mayweather and pac man bickering out of the thread, thanks

i agree but only if they are showing real deal fights which i think they will and i think thats what haymon is waiting for. even on nbc network if hes showing real deal fights i think haymon could go from being one most hated to one best things that happened to boxing. I just think he has a plan to completely take over boxing and thats the real reason shaefer was fired and bob and oscar starting to work together i think its more to work together to keep their 2 party monopoly rather then oscar acting like its all for the fans which we all know is bs anyway. I dont know maybe im dreaming i just like the idea of one promotion rising above and getting control of all the big name fighters and taking the sport main stream and onto sports highlight shows could be what the sport needs. I dont know if anyone could pull it off its haymon only time will tell its just interesting wondering what kind of power move he will make cause we all know it coming

Anytime you get more boxing on mainstream networks and off ppv that's a good thing. So long as he does it with quality fights.

If you get stevenson v kov or a danny v broner on free tv that's great. If you have another Mayhem type fight off ppv and on nbc that's great. If nbc fights are like most showtime cards this past year then it really does nothing but hurt boxing IMO because we don't need crap fights getting more exposure.

Imagine how much advertising revenue you could get between rounds of a Pac-May fight.

Can you? That sounds like the usual attempts to rationalise horrible match-making, a trait Haymon has displayed long before Showtime or NBC.

Haymon is just like his fighters, selling you shit and telling you it's all worth it because of his 'big plans' that are just around the corner.

All you're going to have to do is watch a few more Garcia-Salkas, and you're not going to believe what he has for you then!

The problem is pay tv isnt just going to let boxing move to free tv because they'll lose a bunch of subscribers, so there's gong to be a fight for the better guys and you might end up with Tuesday night fights again with a bunch of never heard ofs and has beens.

The sport is killing itself by becoming elitist where if you dont pay for it you never see it. Which is fine for todays fighters but not for growing the sport.

Here in Aus its almost dead because every fight above espn is ppv even fights like Leapai v Scott, so most fights are watched by a few 1000 people if that, and the general public doesnt know any of the fighters. The only ones people know are Mundibe, Green and Geale and thats all related to Mundine who became famous playing Rugby which is on free tv.

The best way for a fighter to make money is to be seen by the biggest audience and then if they make it big they can get a huge following on ppv or paytv. The problem is they want the money straight up so you get the Bertos etc making big $ habing never fought anyone.

If you want to take boxing to free to air it will have to be at least decent names ans good fights which means outbidding HBO etc so someone has to commit alot of money and be prepared to make a loss for a while.

The other problem is boxing doesnt have alot of advertising time and it can be over 30 seconds.
