Ideally for Arum he gets Cotto-Canelo on May 2nd because that would absolutely drive up PPVs and then Pacquiao-Mayweather on another date. So I do get why he is fighting this. So it is possible he is just trying to play hardball.

It just seems as though its just another one of his excuses (Drug testing/arena/cut)

The plan is to get Mayweather off the May 2nd date and hope his numbers fall terrible to to a point where it reduces his power at the negotiating table. My two cents.

LMAO, Mayweather can claim he is his own boss all he wants, but at the end of the day he is signed to a biatch contract and is owned by Al Haymon just like Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Lucas Mathysse, Marcos Maidana, and everyone else. He is as much of his own boss as Pacquiao is, and to top it off, every single one of his fights has been promoted by either golden boy or Top Rank. He has co-promoted a few of his matches but that's the same as Manny Pacquiao co promoting with his MP promotions, or Cotto co prooting with his Cotto Promotions and Khan promotions. So whats the real difference? Mayweather co promotes his fights with Golden Boy and gets paid by golden boy and pacquia does the same with top rank, but Pacquiao isn't signed to an advisor who controls everything and also isn't locked down to a network. I would say Manny has more control over his career than Floyd does up to this point. Now Floyd just got his promoters license for Mayweather promotions so he will probably be promoting his fights by himself, then ok yes THEN he will finally have more control over his career than Pacquiao does, wait a minute I lied, he is still an Al Haymon puppet at the end of the day lol he is such a clown its not even funny.

Let's myth bust.

First off I know to some claiming that Mexicans are the reason fights sell big on Cinco de Mayo weekend is a point of pride, but the reality is that's just not the truth. Americans who identify themselves as Hispanic do not even make up half of boxings fan base, and yes that includes Mexicans. A 2011 study shows boxing at 50 million fans, 16.6 million of the 50 identify as hardcore boxing fans, of that 16.6 mil Hispanics make up 4,228,000 (remember that includes all Hispanics) so Mexicans make up an even smaller portion. Add to that most Mexicans are out drinking and celebrating on Cinco de Mayo, and I would be willing to bet that a large percentage of fights being ordered are home viewing parties where there's a number of people watching for a single ppv purchase.

These days are the best boxing dates because there is no competition from any other sporting event, as a result more people are turned in the direction of boxing, add to that, that usually the most popular fighters with the biggest fights are synonymous with the dates and you have an equation of the best dates for boxing events.

In NY and Florida alone there are over 2 million puerto Ricans, who have an insane amount of national pride. Why did Cotto barely brake 350k if that date is so important, and PR boxing is almost religious to Puerto Ricans? It because Cotto was competing with MLB draft, Belmont stakes, world cup basketball, which included USA, Puerto Ricos, and Argentina's basketball teams. Less events equals more viewers, more viewers means all demographics have increased.

Didn't take me that long to find this, I'm absolutely sure Arum is aware of these FACTS. You have to truly ask yourself who is stopping the fight from happening.

Floyd is by FAR the biggest draw in the sport right now (not to mention historically) ... He has, for some time, been fighting on the cinco de mayo weekend and trying to move him off that date in order to fight your fighter is basically saying YOU DONT WANT THE FIGHT. If your argument is "well he was going to fight PAC in 2010 on March 10th",that was back when you could argue PAC was as big or even a bigger draw than Floyd (false) and they at the very least had some bargaining chips. Times have changed. Pacs opponents,his record,and his ppv numbers have all went down in that time and Floyd's has either stayed the same or went up. May 2nd or bust. We know that,arum knows that and PAC better start to know that.
