Comments Thread For: Marcos Maidana Open To Face Khan, Not Thurman

Former two division champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) says he is likely to return to action in the "middle of 2015."

The boxer, 31-years-old, had a huge year in 2014 with two Showtime Pay-Per-View fights with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs). Although he lost, Maidana was competitive in both contests.

In terms of the options, there is very little interest in facing Keith Thurman after the boxer had a very lackluster performance last Saturday night with 40-year-old Leonard Bundu.

I think Chino truly is ducking Thurman. He sees Keith as a high risk low reward type of fight and wants no part of it. In honesty, I would give Maidana a chance to beat Thurman but sadly the guy is too scared to face "one time."

I think he just wants to get bigger payouts; Khan does that, Keith don't.

Coming off back to back losses, he needs to make his name relevant again before the money fights. He might have to actually fight thurman.

I don't fault Maidana. This rematch is long overdue and this fight certainly makes more financial sense.

Plus Khan might be moving to HBO.
