As I attempted to explain last night, this was likely his final call for help.

All this garbage about it being directed to Floyd, or because of Floyd, or that Floyd escalated things is ridiculous. He called his FRIEND Floyd for HELP. He was desperate- It was likely too late at that point... but this is where his folks, her folks, are going to start putting the pieces together and feel guilty-anger toward him for missing the signs.
