the sad part is there are people here defending it. He's basically pulling a Chavez Jr at this point and it makes him look scared to go to his NATURAL weight.

IMO each division should have a rehydration limit to get these guys where they belong.

Everybody is praising him, but to me it's more like "I'm willing to fight anyone.....I outweight by 15-20 lbs"

Move to MW and take your beatings dude

Not to mention the PPV buys are nowhere near similar. All Lara did was have a bigger buyrate against Floyd, then proceeded to lose every round. Just because you get a lot of buys doesn't mean anything if you look like a ****ing clown in there. That didn't raise Canelo's stock, it lowered it. Aside from that Cotto did more buys Martinez than Canelo did with Lara or Trout.
They are both roughly at the same PPVs. Around 300-350 thousand buys. Stop acting like Cotto is doing more. If Cotto was smart, why would he face mayweather where his purse for the fight will be smaller? Also you think Floyd is going to give up 50/50 split for Cotto where he doesn't even want to do that for Pacquiao? Get real dude. Stop being a fan boy for Cotto and wake up. Cotto's best decision is with Canelo. Cotto and Canelo both act like little diva b*tches, honestly.

Win or lose vs Mayweather, Canelo fight will be there for Cotto. While losing to Canelo will not get Cotto a fight with Mayweather. Mayweather will not give Cotto 50/50 but even a 35% could be more than a 50% with Canelo. Cotto vs Mayweather could do 1.3-1.5 millions. I think Canelo vs Cotto could max out at 750k.

          NO.

Not even close. I guarantee it wont happen. HBO isn't ******. IF HBO were ever ****** enough to start to playing that game then expect to see Showtime/NBC/CBS/Whoever airing fight cards featuring Al Haymon's best on the same night as HBO PPVs,

          It'll never happen...
Do you think HBO forgot what Showtime did with Canelo going against their JCC Jr. PPV. HBO would go against them on their date to keep their new man happy pure and simple and go against their rivals biggest star. Unless there is something else to be gained.

If it is a huge fight they may not but there are only 2 huge fight 1 HBO has to be involved in and the other is Cotto which might cause some hurt feelings at HBO.

Also shouldn't speak in absolutes, the only absolute when speaking in absolute terms is ending up looking foolish.

You are factoring out the purses being handed out. Long term the money is with canelo. I highly doubt canelo will fight Cotto coming off a loss to mayweather or a loss in general. If that was the case, he would have fought Cotto after the trout loss. The fight is hot now, so it's now or never besides he's not getting younger. I don't think Cotto is dumb enough to walk away now especially after he walked away already before and loss.

There is nothing wrong with that by the way, but you need to know your brand. 2.2 million people paid for that fight but easily 10-20 million in the US saw it, and they saw him look like absolute ****. His brand is like Home Depot or Sony after getting hacked, it's not nearly as valuable but for some reason he thinks it is.c
Cotto was labeled a diva because he wanted the champions treatment. Being introduced second and walking out first, little things that are irrelevant not financial terms. Cotto had evey right to ask for the a significantly bigger piece of the pie in that matchup.

This is a completely different situation, Cotto is getting the champions treatment as ODH stated before. Financially, if you're Alvarez you try to get as much as you can, specially if you're on equal footing like these two are.

On the other hand Oscar still has fighters tied to Showtime and Espinoza. Would he want to sour that relationship just for the sake of telling Canelo he got him the May 2nd date? Who knows.
I am hoping we see an announcement for Canelo/Cotto by the end of the year. After that they are playing the waiting game with the Floyd/Pac drama.
Well Oscar is kind of ****ed, his position is bad but that is of his own doing and really to me he is better off following through rather than trying to play both sides. Canelo is the big straw to Oscar so everyone else comes second, if he cared abotu teh guys on HBO he would have kept his big straw with Showtime. He has also said he wanted to expand his relationship with HBO.

I hope some good stuff happens also. We will see, but it being boxing we know there will be a ton of bull**** even if we do get the good fights we want.
