We don't know Canelo's potential for PPV. He's only fought once on a Mexican holiday. Of course he broke every record when he did.

If nelo/cotto doesn't do well on cinco de mayo, then i'll give more credence to him not being able to sell PPVs.

He ran Martinez-Chavez on the same date as the Canelo-Ortiz PPV (which was cancelled and changed to Canelo-Lopez) long after the MGM Grand was booked and the PPV was announced for Canelo.

He didn't give a **** about losing buys because hurting Canelo/GBP/Showtime was also factored into the equation.

Wasn't it September 15th? Mexican holiday, and he had Chavez's son. That will have been a business decision, i.e. it would still have made financial sense to keep it on that date over another one, it wouldn't have been out of personal spite against a fighter.

I've seen him asked about going against Mayweather PPV before, he dismissed the idea.

Mayweather will get the May date if he fights Manny otherwise I think Cotto vs. Canelo will take the date. I can't see Mayweather vs. Khan doing as well against the other sure fire war.
