  • Terence Crawford - fighter of the year?

In my opinion he should be a clear cut favourite to win the FOTY award.

He's beaten 3 really good fighters this year, and has added the Ring Lightweight title to his name in his last fight.

What is your vote, fighter of the year? If not him, who?

Man, I really like Crawford and am majorly impressed by him, but Kovalev legitimately schooled B-Hop. I'll go further even (had a few bourbons) and say that I think the Krusher carried him a bit.

    For me, that's big.

I'd say that Crawford's three wins this year were better than anybody else's. He even went on the road to get the belt.

      He is deserving of FOTY.

kovalev fought great against Hopkins, but that's just one fight. he fought agnew and caparello in his other 2 fights this year. that's just not good enough to win fighter of the year.

        crawford won it last night.

Roman Gonzalez for me. Fought four times, four stoppages battering Yaegashi & Fuentes.

I definitely agree Gonzalez is another candidate and also good to see him getting some love on the P4P rankings.

He really did look good to me vs Beltran. There's a lot to like there. The way he jabbed out of the southpaw stance and then switched when advantageous reminds me of Marvelous. The way that he eyeballed Beltran and popped him with the following hand (having established that jab) at precisely the correct moment to interrupt Beltran's intentions reminds me of Andre Ward. Lol, his face kinda looks like the Motor City Cobra(or Hitman, if you like) Tommy Hearns.

                What's not to like?

Maybe you're right. Haven't voted yet. I'll lurk a bit before I do.

To me, that's not that big. I fully expected him to win that fight quite comprehensively.

I think the lineal lightweight title + 3 really good wins over champions should put him ahead.

But Kovalev is definitely an outsider.

Not a bad choice. The Yaegashi win was good but Fuentes and the others were kind of blah in my opinion.
