People on NSB, in addition to most of the "boxing communities" on the internet hate Floyd Mayweather Jr for the simple fact that he's black, is boxing's unquestioned biggest star and the sport's best fighter, and refuses to humble himself to anyone.

Same type of stuff that had the US audience loathing Jack Johnson, the "arrogant" and dominant black heavyweight champion. He'd dominate whatever opponent that was put in front of him, and indulge in whatever vices he wanted. That had to go to the extent of trumping up nonsense charges to put him in jail and wreck his name.

The moment he was off "center stage" and in the ground dead, people realised how bigoted their actions were, and now Jack Johnson's name carries no negatives in the general public.

The moment Floyd hangs up the gloves, folks will wait a couple years, and then start to appreciate Mayweather. Heaven forbid he passes early, Mayweather would end up with the grandest eulogy this side of the one exoected for Muhanmmad Ali

Judge him however you want; just judge him on things that he does, rather than things that you think he's done or things he'd do.

If you don't like him buying $2m cars and driving around in them, judge him for that. If you don't like him thumbing his nose at folks trying to tell him what to do, judge him for that. If you don't like him not pandering to fans, judge him for that too.

Not saying that this is you, but folks shouldn't go out of your way to use coded terms like "wannabe gangster thug", or other derogatory nuggets, that have nothing to do with what Mayweather is doing or what you hope to critique.

Mayweather brought a lot of the criticism on himself...he sold the bad guy image to the public to garner more interest, income, etc. His plan worked, can't complain now......he sold his soul to the devil no he must live with it.

The Iron Sheik may have been portrayed as what he was, but the sane person didn't use that as grounds to threaten the man's character or trash the man behind the character as some Iranian/Soviet sympathizer; they took the character for what it was, enjoyed the spectacle, and didn't use the character to disparage the man.

You are very disillusioned. Floyd Mayweather Jr. the person has turned into nothing more then his women beating and untrustworthy father. Floyd Mayweather Jr the fighter is an ATG and at the stoop of his game. Ellerbe may be a **** sucker but when he said you will never see this kinda entertainment and dominance packaged for the boxing fans again....he may be of been right. Floyd Mayweather Jr the person isn't an innocent little boy any more with minor run ins with the law. His boxing persona and kiss @ss team has turned him into a pretentious monster that thinks his **** doesn't stink. Because of this Mayweather will never admit defeat and never give in to any sort of negotiation. Everything is his way or the highway. Therefor we may never see Pac give his best shot at the perceived vulnerability of the unbeatable "TBE" Mayweather. I want to believe Floyd Mayweather is the best of this generation but it's ****in hard when he focuses more on the monetary aspects of his career rather then the legacy building aspects. He could have fought Pac back in 2010 and brought himself to new levels win or lose. But no he would rather settle and milk this rivalry out for as long as his predominately cherry picked career lasts.
