He started to hold more in the second half of the first fight, and did the same in the rematch.

But you are right, Matthysse cuts off a ring much better than Maidana, so the "hold and reset" wouldn't be as damaging to LM's chances.

I don't think Matthysse has the best chance of beating Mayweather, that's obviously Golovkin at 154 imo but it would be a good fight.

Lol Maidana didnt punk mayweather...he just came in swinging like a wildman and managed to win the early 4 rounds...after that he was gassed toast and was getting outboxed...second fight he judst couldnt even land at all except for once early...

And golovkin would be weaker at 147....face it... hes not knocking out a future hall of famer and best defensive fighter of this era, he just isnt......not until i see him face a level fighters and win

If Maidana can trap him on the ropes like that and lesser fighters then Lucas can and will and hes twice the fighter Maidana is.
Maidana didn't 'trap' Floyd on the ropes for the most part. And he never really cut the ring off either. On the other hand, Miguel Cotto truly CUT the ring off and tried trapping Floyd quite a number of times. Cotto is the example, not Maidana.

In the second fight, we saw even more clearly that Maidana didn't really know how to cut the ring off on Floyd. And Floyd did make some adjustments in not staying on the ropes consciously since that was where Maidana had most of his success.

We saw the following comical scenario constantly in Mayweather vs. Maidana 2. And this was just a piece of round 2 and 3.

I don't see why not with the extra weight and not having to cut so much he may even hit harder. I think he hydrates to 155-157 and don't think he makes the weight easy. Most of the welterweights are blown up fighters anyway.

I'd love to see him trained under Robert Garcia or Freddie Roach.

Yeah, and Floyd made Maidana literally forgot what corner to walk to not once, but TWICE!

Madaina beat him but Floyd had help from the judges. PAC might beat him but at this point the fight is 5 years to late cause both are past prime and the fight in my eyes isn't worth 100 million let other young bucks make the money rather than boring greedy Mayweather
