Fighter of the year should be based on quality of opposition and level of domination in that fight.

Pac fought 2 undefeated fighters with belts in their primes and at most lost 4 rounds against Bradley and 0 against Algieri. (I had Bradley winning 2 rounds against Pac)

Kovalev or Wlad should be #2
Algieri wasn't good enough as a second foe and most people saw it as a mismatch going in.

If you replaced Leapai with someone a little bit better I'd agree with #2
Kovalev is a good shout though.

Couldn't complain with Pacquiao winning it though he has came back strong for 2014 and has looked impressive in all fights no matter how much people want to analyse.

After that, Kovalev is getting a lot love. If Inoue beats Narvaez, he deserves mention. I love me some Roman but if anyone at Fly should be considered for 2014 it's probably Ruenroeng.
        Bradley >>> Gamboa

Algieri coming off the Provo win >>> Burns coming off two terrible performances. (Btw Crawford vs Burns was almost as much of a foregone conclusion as Manny vs Algieri. I don't recall anyone picking Burns to win.)

A Beltran win won't tip the scale in Crawford's favor imo.

I didn't think Algieri beat Provodnikov and Burns even off some bad nights had much more track record. And Crawford went on the road and got the nod. Always a plus.

For me, it's him or Inoue. I didn't think Pac fighting Algieri was anything big before and it turned out that way. Just my take. Algieri is good. For someone on Pac's level, it's just holding serve. Crawford came from the pack at 135 and established himself as best in his class with three big wins. That's the story if he wins this weekend.

In the meantime, I would like to have some suggestion and nominations. Who should be included in the poll?

I think Roman Gonzalez, Nicolas Walters, Sergey Kovalev, Terrance Crawford and Manny Pacquiao should be there.

              Who else?
Pacquiao does not belong on the list.

Fighter of the year is unfortunately Sergey Kovalev.

Algieri is not a top 3 welterweight. At least not legitimately.

If you look at Crawfords past two fights
Ricky Burns a past it fighter who everyone on here was trashing to high heavens
Gamboa a year of inactivity and most considered too small for lightweight
Then we have Beltran who he will beat...

Right off the bat we can compare Beltran with Rubio except Rubio is probably more dangerous than Beltran I'd say both wins are equal to one another.

Ricky Burns compare him to Osumanu Adama, Adama has never been KOed and has been on a winning run so Adama is clearly a better win.

Geale compared to Gamboa, Geale had been fighting actively and he has been fighting in that weight division for the most part of his career so he is a natural middleweight the same can't be said for Gamboa who after the fight admitted he was too small and since then has went down in weight.

Off of all of that its obvious Gennady Golovkin is ahead of Terence Crawford.

I thought it was based off how good your opponent is not name sake of your opponent, if that was the case you wouldn't have Gonzalez as a runner in this.

Yeah, I don't understand the hyping of Algieri after the fight. Actually I do understand why but it's still ridiculous.
