The guys back in the day had A LOT more heart. Not necessarily that they had more heart than Manny or Margarito but back then heart wasn't even a trait, it was expected. Fighting 3-4 times in a 2 or 3 months and even more in some cases is crazy to fathom nowadays. Or Broner's hands being held as he went back to the locker room... that just wouldn't happen. I think that's the biggest difference overall, but today's fighters make up for that with athleticism as others have stated.

It's no different than if LeBron, Jordan or even Magic Johnson went back to the 50's they wouldn't absolutely dominate the game. Chamberlin just had a size advantage he wasn't doing the things Charles Barkley or Shaq were doing in their primes. Take a smaller guy like Chris Paul even and he wouldn't lose a game to Jerry West. Just too much speed, reaction time and complete different style than what they've seen. Now, that toughness again would overcome the inability to keep up with those things for a lot of older fighters, but I'm positive a lot of guys would compete even with a much smaller talent pool as stated.

With the exception of the ATGs like Chavez and Whitaker the best fighters of today's era would more than hold their own.

If all the "modern training techniques" and "superior diet" are so important

WHY DON'T WE SEE IT IN THE RING?????

RJJ would have been figure out and KTFO'd a lot sooner in previous eras.

I think Ali vs Lewis would be a competitive 8-4 decision for Ali. Wlad may struggle with the speed and movement.

But needless to say I don't think he would whitewash every heavyweight of the past few eras.
