      I think that's true.

Sanchez had both guys in his camp and said a number of times in the past that Golovkin worked him over, said Kovalev showed too much respect or a little fear so he stopped putting him in with Golovkin. Others have said the same.

Abel is in full-on Freddie Roach mode with GGG. I suppose he has to do it to some degree given Golovkin's lack of english but he won't make many friends in the process.

Those reports all came from people connected with Abel Sanchez and should be taken with a large pinch of salt.
I can't believe a big lightheavy-weight like Kovalev would be scared of sparring any middleweight, with headguards and pillow sparring gloves.

There is an interview with Kovalev in Russian where he said that at the time when he sparred GGG he was just beginning his own camp so was still not in shape and therefore was taking it easy with GGG (also they are good friends so I can't imagine he would spar with him 100% at any point). Golovkin had a fight in a couple of weeks so this wasn't the type of sparring that Sanchez wanted for him so close to the fight and hence took Kovalev out. Nothing to do with "showing too much respect".

Sanchez is like the tabloids - twisting and spinning the facts for his own agenda.

Other than trying to fight better opposition than Kov, and beating them, there's really only one other way to prove that you are better than him. Let's face it, neither way will happen unless GGG decides to either move up or move down.
