Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Trainer: Kovalev is Not on GGG's Level

Abel Sanchez, trainer of superstar fighter Gennady Golovkin, feels that while Martin Murray is a worthy challenger for Triple G, he will suffer the same fate as every other boxer who has faced his fighter when they meet on February 21st in Monte Carlo.

"Martin is an accomplished fighter. He had a draw with (Felix) Sturm in Germany which I think he won and he beat (Sergio) Martinez in Argentina but was robbed. I expect Murray will be in shape and ready for the challenge but Golovkin is on a different planet right now. Golovkin is a special kind of fighter that comes along every 20 years. I expect Murray to try to fight him but once Golovkin zeroes in on him then it's not going to be a long fight," Sanchez stated.

He may not be on Golovkin's level but he has a better pro record at this point in time.

I actually saw that interview, Sanchez said Kovalev used to be one of his fighters.

SOunds like bitterness from Sanchez who used to work with Kovalev. I think GGG is better, but Kovalev performed great in England for the title and against Bhop, a level of opponent GGG has not come close to fighting.

btw, how does GGG looks more deadly than a guy who actually killed one of his opponents? there is no more deadly than that.

Both are awesome and I would rate them equally in their respective divisions. GGG still needs his 'Hopkins' so technically, perhaps Kovalev is slightly ahead.

I like both fighters but Abel needs to STFU until GGG lands and beats a big opponent. So far he's done very well against B class fighters, he just needs to land that one big fish, then he could start talking shiet. Until then KOvalev is more proven and his resume is deeper than GGG's and has also shown more levels to his boxing game. Abel just mad cause KOv is getting that shine right now and GGG isn't.

I think that's very much up for debate at this point. And I wasn't one who thought so before.

Abel Sanchez is one of the few reasons, why some people hate GGG.
