My take on this fight is similar to yours. Pulev doesn't have a lot of variety in his punches, but as well as the good jab, he throws left-right combinations accurately from long range and usually finishes fights strongly. If Wlad starts to tire and slow down in the last 3/4 rounds he could end up in trouble.

I don't think he wins but this is arguably one of the toughest opponents for Wlad. If he had better KO power i'd make Pulev a healthy dog, unfortunately he doesn't. I see a semi-competitive UD for Wlad. He's really gonna play it safe for the first half imo, more than usual.
Good to see HBO broadcasting it.Comment

A friend told me he saw the weigh in and Pulev was "fat like usual" and I was like "Huh? He's not usually fat." and he's not fat at all here either. The hell...? Pulev's in good shape, far as I can tell.Comment

It's unlikely - Pulev is good, he's big and physically strong (though he ain't a big puncher), but stylistically it's mainly jab, jab, right. He's very good at it too - probably beats almost everyone else in the division.
Problem is he does what Wlad does, only not quite as well. He's probably too big for Wlad to blatantly outmuscle him and lean on him a la Povetkin, but then he also lacks Sashas speed and (sorta) explosiveness.
This is almost certain to be a battle of the jabs, but while Kub**** good at that, it's hard to see him beating Wlad at his own game.
Make no mistake, Pulev is probably the best opponent out there for Wlad, but the style match up just doesn't favour him.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 11-15-2014, 07:54 AM.Comment
