Joe Calzaghe always found a way to get the job done and I'd imagine there'd be no exception to this fight.

Bare in mind Joe beat a prime Mikkel Kessler who was an absolute animal not even Carl Froch could beat the out of prime Kessler the first time round he needed two cracks of the whip to break his duck.

I'd have to say Joe would do it, he'd find a way to offset the rhythm of Kovalev and nick a points decision.

As for younger Bhop would do this and that... do us all a favour and zip it, he'd do what?
Spoil even more than he already does...

When the decision was read for the Kovalev - BHop fight I was thinking about the same matchup and who I would have picked. I think Calzaghe would have been in for a rough fight in this one. His speed and boxing skills would trump Sergey but wow, that power and overall ring generalship he has makes me not be able to pick a comfortable winner. I say it's a close decision either way as Calzaghe had a granite chin as well.

Yes he does, Calzaghe did the same but he wasn't a stiff up top and fought off of different angles.

                .. Controversial decision result.

I would be secretly hoping for Kovalev to knock him out cold the entire time though. Calz is like Hopkins to me, I acknowledge the skill and the resume but hate the cheap ugly boxing style.
calzaghe is wide open when he throws his slap furries. kovalev would ko him easily when calzaghe came forward. if kovalev had the counter for hopkins who is super sneaky he sure as hell is going to have the counter for a guy who is compeltely square and throws from far out. kovalev would batter calzaghe at distance with his jab and then when calzaghe came forward lay him out with a right hand.

no way Calzaghe makes it to the final bell. But of course he wouldn't fight him in the first place. He wouldn't even fightan uundefeated Kelly Pavlik which is what all the fans were calling for when he chose old Roy.

are you implying calzaghe was good at slipping punches or hard to hit or something? that's just not true at all. what matters is that calzaghe came in completely square in order to get off his slap furries. obviously slapping from side to side requires one to square their body in order to execute this amazing move. kovalev had no problem working out hopkins a guy who actually uses angles to mount attacks and setup defense. why would he have a problem with calzaghe coming in square? kovalev is just better. calzaghe was a fine fighter but he knew who to fight and who not to. guy wouldn't even fight pavlik for crying out loud.
