I wonder how many of the people making comments akin to 'lol...you want to give kov credit for failing to stop a 50 year old' also picked Hopkins to win the bout.

I was laughing at some of Roy's shots at Bernard he did give him his due but couldn't help but think how he must of enjoyed that.

Had that been The Executioner in there with Kovalev, that neck punch wouldve had Kovalev staring up at the lights from the canvas.

With all due respect. This was a Big fight. Both guys had belts.

And Kovalev won, and won clearly. Therefore it's rational to assume that he will get some credit. Maybe you can criticize him for this win 5 years later the way Hopkins was after getting his big, first victory against Trinidad.

Why start this line of thinking immediately after a fight? Give it a rest. If he hasn't fought anybody, then this would be the first time he did. And the other guy of the division wants no part of him.

Most guys Kovalev's age would have gone down and not gotten up from his shots. Hopkins is damn near 50 and managed to not get ko'd by a young ko artist. I knew Hopkins was going to lose, but hey, the old man's got cajones, & is one tough son of a gun.

Man I'm not sure Stevenson would fight him, so if not him, who ? This division is pretty dry.

Kovalev showed too much respect. Had he went all out earlier he would have taken Hopkins out of there. Hopkins was very cautious and scared which is why he threw so little. Kovalev didn't exploit this because out of respect.
There was no reason to stop the fight in the 12th. Hopkins came out relatively unmarked and spoke well after the fight. It was a great night for Kovalev. He fought brilliantly. But what really was proven was that Hopkins could go the distance against Kovalev. Now THAT is a fact.
