I'm happy for Kovalev, i was rooting for him, and it's a good controlled performance from him.
Iv'e got to say, i think the ref should of stopped that fight in the 12th..Hopkins looked out of sorts and taking hurtful shots.

Fair play to Hopkins. I'm not a fan, but he deserves credit. He stepped up and faced the best guy in the division..a huge puncher, at 49 years old.
Shame most of the fighters of this generation don't have the same attitude.

Will Stevenson now step up to the plate and face Kovalev?...i wouldn't hold my breath.

Sorry, what was that about Kovalev being one-dimensional, and just a puncher?

Many Americans tend to think that if you look a certain way...
Then you come from a certain upbringing...
                Thus you can't fight....
Thus if anyone who looks like that is a pro boxer, he must just be a "toughguy" doing it for the novelty.

It seems to still be new to them that these same stereotypes do not apply on the opposite side of the world. Kovalev is not some midwestern guy "trying out boxing lolz".

Like I said..b hops age was going to show, but no shame in trying to maximize your legacy and losing to the most feared dude in the division. Hopkins chin is out of this world. I think he should go after stevenson..he has a great chance of taking that belt imo. I just don't see anything special about that guy.

He has three belts and the other guy is ducking him, no need to be desperate.
I'm not sure Hopkins wouldn't beat Stevenson. Stevenson is much more one dimensional and inactive than Kovalev. He is also much more chinny. If Bernard wants one more fight, Stevenson at age 50. i would pay to watch that fight. The truth is that Kovalev's vast amateur background and technical skill was ignored coming into this fight. It (especially his control of distance) along with his power made the difference. Stevenson lacks that and could not control distance like this.

Americans simply don't hold the required boxing knowledge in order to actually assess the "Russian school"... Period.
