He does, but every Kovalev hater on here is saying he really isn't any good and his rise to the top isn't very impressive. You know, because we've seen so many LHW up until this point put together a streak of stoppages the way he hasKovalev is better then Hopkins. Lets not forget B-Hop is 49 about to turn 50. He looked OKAY against the terrible Karo Murat.
Kovalev does everything better then Hopkins, at this point. But this is just my opinion.
Hop got clowned by Joe Calzaghe..... Wait til you see what Kovalev is going to do. He is on a completely different stratosphere then guys like Calz, Murat, Shumenov, Cloud, etc.
oh yeah and Hopkins has never been beat!

did Bernard go the distance with Cloud? ok so I guess we can only say that Cloud has a granite chin, because surely someone as easy to hit as Cloud would of been stopped by the great Hopkins.
Did Pascal knock Hopkins down more than once? SO IT IS possible to put the old man on the canvas then, ok next.
Did Hopkins spend the majority of the fight on the ropes against both Dawson and Calzaghe? BUT for some reason that won't happen in this match up.
We should really be discussing how many rounds Hopkins will survive! Ill say 8Comment

Kovalev will outbox Hopkins. Shows you why boxing isn't mainstream, even many hardcore boxing fans think Kovalev is unskilled. Crazy to think people spend their lives watching this sport and still DKSAB.Comment

They are already falling into the Hopkins trap. Kovalev will be trying to box and allow Hopkins to dictate the pace (mistake #1), get on the inside (mistake#2), and apply rough house tactics (mistake #3). It's a wrap already, Kovalev is getting a notch in the L column on Sat night.Comment

A lot of present day fans are essentially Floyd fans who see no skill in offensive fighting, nor any distinction between offensive fighters.
Any offensively minded fighter is labelled a face-first brawler by a lot of guys on this board who simply know no better. Pavlik=Kovalev=Matthysse=Golovkin etc.
Even Duran and Chavez Sr are called flat-footed brawlers by most of those guys. They just haven't watched enough boxing to know that there's more to the sport than being a counter-punching out-fighter. And that there's tremendous skill and technique involved in the attacking side of fighting.Comment

Kovalev is a monster for sure but he gets those KO's by stalking guys down and applying pressure with punches in bunches. He fights that way because that's what feels comfortable to him, that's what works for him. You try and switch up your style because you think you are going to outbox one of the smartest boxers of all time, and you are going to get worked over.He does, but every Kovalev hater on here is saying he really isn't any good and his rise to the top isn't very impressive. ***When has Kova looked vulnerable at all in his last couple of fights? Trying to "box" with Caparillo (when he got put down) and when he tried to box with Agnew. When he went back to pummeling them with punches, he did well.Last edited by mathed; 11-06-2014, 07:36 PM.Comment
