I'd be more inclined to believe in Kovalev if he had done something, anything, to this point that showed he was elite.
So. No props to Kovalev whatever happens? smh. Guessing Hopkins doesn't deserve any credit either then since it's a clear mismatch. Obviously a pointless fight.

Funny - we spend so much time whining about the best not fighting the best on this forum, and then when a coupla guys do step up to the plate some folk have to try to discredit the fighters anyway.

Thankfully most of the boxing world will give Saturdays victor all due credit, whichever guy it is.

Where do people get the idea that Kovalev has no defense?

Kovalev's best attribute it the fact that he has power in both hands, and that he can let that power go with short shots from less than ideal angles. Hopkins' best, most damaging shots tend to be delivered at close range from funny angles as well.

The up-close trades, if there are many of them, will be interesting. It seems more likely that Hopkins is going to go down the pot-shot and clinch route rather than adopt the style he brought to the Trinidad fight where he kept Tito off balance rather than hold him.

And with time his resume and body of work will be too.

Hopkins is 50 years old. There's not much he can do better then Kovalev, especially at that age. IMO. He has a good headbutt and illegal tactics but Kovalev is way more skilled, in all aspects.
Well it's not. I wouldn't say he's that talented at all. He punches hard and is fairly active for a big puncher. That's mostly whats impressive about him. But he's hardly super talented or skilled.

Hopkins is in a different stratosphere skill wise to Kovalev. His age is the only reason why I'm not confident on my prediction that he'll win comfortably on points.

                  Kovalev win helps boxing

But Hoppie will win on points as Kovie is not ready for Bernard yet.

If you are slower than Bernard, you are not going to beat him.
