Kovalev can and will outbox Hopkins, easily. Better footwork, bigger arsenal of punches and just flat out better at any aspect of the sport then Bernard.

But once the accumulation of devastating power punches start to add up..... The Legend will drop and Kovalev will get the KO.

I think kovalev will absolutely try to "outbox" Hopkins

In other words, he's gonna try preserving himself. Steal the early rounds on activity.

Basically do what jermain Taylor did.

It's up to Bernard to constantly smother kovalev and land some low blows, hip shots.

Headbutts will be key. Kova cuts easy and I hope Hopkins delivers some accurate headbutts as he's known to do in the past especially when he's either being pressured on the ropes (Trinidad fight) or uncomfortable (first Taylor fight he delivered an absolute peach of a headbutt when Taylor was backed up in the corner) .

The cuts will make kova resort back to what has got him all the ko's and that plays into Hopkins hands

Kovalev is better then Hopkins. Lets not forget B-Hop is 49 about to turn 50. He looked OKAY against the terrible Karo Murat.

Kovalev does everything better then Hopkins, at this point. But this is just my opinion.

Hop got clowned by Joe Calzaghe..... Wait til you see what Kovalev is going to do. He is on a completely different stratosphere then guys like Calz, Murat, Shumenov, Cloud, etc.

Kovalev punches harder than Hopkins. Other than that, I don't see too much else he does better. You're off your head. Different stratosphere than Calzaghe? Lol....his best win is over a very poor man's version of Calzaghe

They're probably just trying to psych Hop out a bit, make him think it will be a boxing match when Kov intends to destroy. Who knows, Kov could mix it up and do both.

I really hope this fight lives up to the hype...

Beyond the misleading headline there is no story here. Klimas didn't say his man would out-box Hopkins, he said:

"Sergey has prepared very well and he is ready to box, rather than just chase to get a knockout."

Is that not what Kovalev does anyway? From what I've seen of the guy he boxes pretty patiently until he has his opponent hurt then he jumps on 'em.

There are aspects of Sergey's footwork that are consistently poor.

That is the right strategy, B-Hop struggles with Athletic BOXERS and lost mostly to Athletic Boxers. Kovalev is not a Super Athlete or nothing like that he not Roy Jones Jr with his footwork and speed...BUT I do think Kovalev athleticism is a bit underrated. He is far from a Flat Footed Brawler. B-Hop is banking on Kovalev to come out and BRAWL that is what he wants him to do. So YES coming out and BOXING and being patient and using that jab and slowing the pace of the fight down and pushing back when B-Hop tries to get inside with his clinches, that is how Dawson beat him!

                  Jab is key vs B-Hop!

Smart not to focus on the KO, but he needs to outwork Hopkins. He's never going to outbox Hopkins.

His career is just getting started. His rise is now. He will build his legacy. His talent level is in a different stratosphere is what I meant.

And with time his resume and body of work will be too.

Hopkins is 50 years old. There's not much he can do better then Kovalev, especially at that age. IMO. He has a good headbutt and illegal tactics but Kovalev is way more skilled, in all aspects.
