Whatever drama was going on between networks and promoters, it would not have prevented Stevenson from fighting Kovalev. As I said previously, the terms had been agreed and the contracts drawn up.
If Stevenson and his backers believed he could beat Kovalev they would have gone through with the fight and then moved to showtime for an even more lucrative fight with BHop.
The agreement that Stevenson had with Duva ended with him fighting Krusher, he could have done whatever he wanted after that.
The reason he pulled out of the fight was clearly that either he or his backers didn't think he would win it. That's a duck.

You totally missed my point. This move had nothing to do with any other fighter, neither Hopkins not Kovalev. Maybe YOU thought he was moving to Showtime just to chase a fight with Hopkins. But the events of the past 16mos should tell you that all of this network switching has nothing to do with anything like that.

It's pathetic that Adonis has to talk about being the king at light heavy and didn't accept the challenge to prove he is the true king of 175. Did he feel like the king when he was on his a$$ against Fonfara? Equally more pathetic is that he's talking about B level fighters bringing their A game against him and not actual A level fighters that he has to face.

Yeah you're definitely being dense. Step back and think about things for a moment. He's going through managerial changes. Said manager is going through promotional changes. I'm not throwing childish insults, I'm asking you why you're thinking like a child. And for the most part, whenever a poster uses "duck" it's because they're thinking like a child. no one knows who Adonis is anyway. If adonis has to remind fans adonis is the champ then it is a meaningless worthless belt. Keep in mind Adonis is a convicted ex-con felon convicted pimp. Boxing deserves better.

Stevenson's promoter, Yvon Michel, was acting as his manager when the agreement was reached and the contract drawn up for Stevenson vs Fonfara followed by Stevenson vs Kovalev, and he is still with Michell now, but being "advised" by Haymon, as we all know.

After Michel told Duva that Stevenson wasn't going to sign the contract and they intended to fight Fonfara with Showtime instead, she offered to up the money he would get for that fight to more than Showtime were going to give him for it, but he still wouldn't sign. The reason he wouldn't sign was that the offer was conditional on him fighting Kovalev afterwards, and Adonis didn't want to fight Kovalev.

I know the word "duck" is used way to much at this forum in cases where it clearly doesn't apply. But I think that in this case "duck" is the right word to use.

It's likely that Stevenson only ducked kovalev because that was what Haymon advised him to do. But he did duck Kovalev.

When you duck guys as blatantly as Stevenson is doing with Kovalev, Hopkins and now Pascal, they should practically count as losses by forfeit.

That was the official excuse for why he switched networks but according to bhop when he tried to make the fight, Stevenson just stalled and ignored him while Kovalev said yes within a day.
