I think Cotto is the more skilled fighter, his jab and ring IQ is far superior to Canelo's. Canelo is the younger, stronger and bigger guy. He's got good skill as well but he doesn't match Cotto in that department. But I think he's more hungry and has more dog in him than Cotto, he can dig deeper and if it's a firefight, I think Canelo will come out on top.
People expecting Canelo to pressure and break Miguel down are going to be very disappointed. He's not that type of fighter naturally and he's not a more skilled boxer than Cotto. Force to him to move his feet and hit him as he turns. Canelo isn't light on his feet and Cotto can also exploit that.
Are you sure you didn't grab this post from 2008? Because I remember everything you guys are saying about Cotto vs Canelo, is pretty much the same thing you said about Cotto vs Margarito.
"hes faster" "hes a better boxer" "hes more intelligent"
How did all that work out again?

Canelo has serious problems with movers. Trout could have beat him if he didn't decide to come to him for some strange reason.
Lara beat him with his feet.
Cotto is very skilled with his feet, and his boxing ability. For all the talk of Cotto's power, Cotto's greatest asset has always been his boxing ability.
Canelo is probably quicker, but he has always been easily frozen by feints. What I mean by that is that a skilled boxer using feints will reduce Canelo's punch output to basically nothing. Canelo wants to be slick.
Canelo however is an underrated puncher it seems, especially to the body. He puts together some beautiful combinations, mixing in body and head.
At the end of the day the only question that this fight will answer is how much of Cotto is really left. I have a feeling that the Martinez and Geale fights were just the wool being pulled over our eyes, and Cotto is quite far gone.
Would love to see Cotto pull out another great win, but despite everything being in his favor stylistically, I am not sure he has enough left to execute.

Did you forget the rematched? Go figure you have to go back 7 years, to a tainted victory and then like the plaster wraps forget the rematch even happened lol.
This place is going to be unbearable November 22nd. Cotto put his hands all over Sergio and people are still salty as **** about that victory. I'm really trying to figure out what the excuse is for Cotto winning this time... It has to be because the ring was black, not in Texas maybe?

Of course I remember the rematch. Just as Tony was starting to make Cotto fold, suddenly the eye wasn't good anymore, according to the Dr in new York. Interesting thing, Cotto was starting to break down again.

The 9th was probably one of Cotto's best rounds - but who needs facts anyways?
He pushed and pulled Tony, ripped the body, turned him, jabbed him and generally over powered. Just because Tony smiled, doesn't mean he didn't get his ass whupped.
Tony benefitted in the first fight from thudding power and Cotto's broken nose. Neither of that happened. I think if Freddy was in his corner that night, Margarito would have been put to sleep. Diaz trained Cotto had him just outclass him. Freddy would have had him batter Tony.
Tony's a good fighter and got a great win - but Cotto set the record straight with a 9-0 shutout
Power - Even and that's because I'm because nice to Canelo. Cotto's knocked out 2 MW's, the only JMW's to be KO'd by Canelo were Angulo and Kirkland.
Strength - This refers to who is stronger like pushing and manhandling a guy... I'd say Canelo is probably stronger, he is the bigger guy, but Cotto is better and knows what he's doing but that's a different category so Canelo here.
Stamina - Even
Chin - I'm more suspect at Cotto going down than Canelo when getting hit with a shot. Canelo's more untested but we've seen Cotto be hurt more so you have to go with Canelo here.
