Should Wladimir Klitschko take a fight with Shannon Briggs?

Some are saying they would like to see Wladimir Klitschko take up Shannon Briggs challenge and give him a title shot in 2015.

I say no, Briggs needs to beat a legit contender first. Even Leapai, while he wasn't a very good challenger, defeated Denis Boytsov to earn his shot.

Briggs is fighting low-level clubfighters like Richard Carmack, who had lost six in a row.

    What do you think?

I saw a post by you, where you said you no longer supported Wlad because he was funding the murder of ethnic Russians. Have you gone back on this now? Glad should fight Briggs because the division is a joke and one thing we would be guaranteed in a fight between the two is entertainment right up until Wlad knock Briggs head off. And there has been very little entertainment in Wlads fights for a while. Also Wlad fought Jean Mark Mormeck who ha no notable wins at heavy and was destroyed by David Haye a man Wlad beat comfortably so why not fight Briggs?

Exactly, you know, if Briggs takes on anybody in the top 10's and wins, then hey, atleast then he has a "symbolic" reason for claiming a shot.

Reality is is that he can't really win. Wladimir would have to rock up on morphine or something for that guy to land a fight ending shot on him.

For me it's more a question of health. I think a sustained ramrod beating could kill Briggs or put him in a hospital/home for good.

The same guys egging Briggs on for this fight would later be appalled at the outcome of such a fight for Shannon.

And then there's Wladimir's resume to consider. At WK's age and fight rate, he doesn't have many more defences left before he will likely retire, or atleast begin to fade. Why should he waste one of those opportunities on Briggs, when he just had a relatively easy fight, and there are several legitimate contenders out there with both much better chances and are much more worthy of it.

It's funny But that's about it.

Because Haye is 10 times better than Briggs and Mormeck had credentials at CW before building up.

          Briggs has done nothing.

          You want excitement?

          Wilder would be exciting.
          Fury would be exciting.

These guys are tall, they produce a different style of fight for Wlad, something closer to a slug fest, more boxing than wrestling.

These guys have a legit claim to a shot. And they have a perceived chance.

You even admit Briggs has no chance. He does nothing for Wlad's resume so there are no grounds for a fight, especially with the way Briggs is acting.

I don't think the fight will be any better or more difficult than the Leapai fight!

And will likely end in disability for Briggs. Is that what you really want?

The division is stacked right now imo, the only joke is Briggs!

God no. I laugh as much as the next guy at the #letsgochamp sarcasm/meme but if this fight ACTUALLY happened I would have to de-endorse Wladimir.

Leapai was a mandatory coming off of a decent win at least. Briggs is effectively a random guy off the street at this point.

I get the impression that Wlad would be loath to reward Briggs for his crass behaviour.

With that said, it is generating interest and gaining people's attention. Attention is a valuable commodity in today's world, and Wlad knows that he'll likely receive criticism whomever he fights, so why not get paid for hitting Shannon in the face?

My issue is, that once they get in the ring, the entertainment stops. Plus, I don't like what Klitschko does in the ring but I do admire his professionalism and respect the way he holds himself. If he held to what increasingly seems like archaic standards of decency and refused to reward Brigg's antics, I'd respect him even more.

There are plenty of worthwhile contenders for Wlad to fight without wasting his time on this clown. Let Briggs beat someone.

I saw your name as the last post and whole heartedly expected something along the lines of "Let's go Champ"

No, I just think there are other more deserving challengers:

                    Winner of Fury-Chisora
                    Winner of Stiverne-Wilder
                    Povetkin rematch with fair referee
                    Jennings
