I avoid writing in most Manny/Floyd threads and rarely make one of my own but I just had to post here.
Manny Pacquiao saved boxing for me, after the end of the 90s, with the loss of Tyson, Holyfield, Jones, Eubank, Benn, Naz, personally, the sport felt like it was dying. I was losing interest in Oscar although he had 2 absolute barn burners against Mosley and Hopkins pulled off the unimaginable against Tito but it just didn't seem the same.
Mayweather was plying his trade and was good to watch but never electrifying, I was and still am a huge fan of Barrera and Morales but as they rounded off their rivalry, there just wasn't much left for them to do. Then along comes Pacquiao, this fast, aggressive guy who just wouldn't tsop throwing punches. Without a doubt the greatest offensive fighter since Tyson but in all honesty, one who was or would become a more well rounded performer.
Pacquiao probably has the most underrated defence of any modern fighter, his punch selection and accuracy is ATG material and the fact that he faced all those that mattered when those fights mattered is a testament to his greatness.
People can hold JMM against him, maybe even Bradley or Morales but he doesn't matter, he dominated almost everyone he faced, was/is a feared puncher and has won more world titles than just about anybody, there is no one (maybe Hopkins) who I respect more in this sport.
Yup. At this point he has beaten every man he has faced since the losses in the 90s when he was a novice kid. And to me a guy like Pacquiao will always be one of the special ones not just accomplishment wise but the way he fought in every fight and the way he always carried himself. He's a class act ATG.
TIM SMITH, COLUMNIST FROM THE DAILY NEWS REPORTED THAT Pacquiao’s camp sent TWO emails to the Mayweather Camp, the first asked” what will the Penalty if Pacquiao test positive on the drug test.” The second email:” If he does test positive can they keep it quiet for the betterment of boxing”
that's why i cringe when some idiots say pacman is using the duck's name to promote his fights. pacman is way bigger than a boring, running, clinching, fake retiring, vacationing, roiding fake ppv queen.
100% completely clear and undebatable unless hopkins beats kovalev. Everyone else is far behind those 2 and don't evern enter the discussion and everyone is completely in agreement about this because it is that obvious.
According to a source familiar with the talks, Pacquiao's representatives asked what penalties Pacquiao would face if he tested dirty, and also if a dirty test result could be kept secret so that the integrity of the fight wouldn't be ruined in the public eye.

Too bad Smith never produced any emails. But if you like smoke:
Derek (Tampa)
What do you make of that article that goes out of its way to implicate Floyd Mayweather as a PED user without actually saying it?
Dan Rafael (12:13 PM)
That has been the rumor for a long time but I need to see proof before I accuse somebody of something so serious. What is fact, however, is that the settlement in the Pacquiao/Mayweather lawsuit happened after the Pacquiao camp tried to get Mayweather's USADA testing records. So maybe where there is smoke there is fire.
Pac is the greatest of this era everyone knows that.
Whenever anyone says Floyd should fight GGG, Floyd fans get defensive and ask why don't Pac fight GGG? Laughable as Pac has 8titles in divisions and FOTD accolades already!
Floyd fans should concentrate on what Floyd needs to do to be TBE. And fighting and beating GGG will go somewhere to achieving some kind of legacy. Floyd fans say why should Floyd fight GGG when Floyds not a middleweight?
Well Duran wasn't a supermiddleweight, and RJJ wasn't a heavyweight. Just what is their point?
