If the fight between Canelo vs Cotto gets made for May, it will be Mayweather who would be forced to back out of the May 2nd date.

In Cotto/Canelo you not only have the biggest rivalry in boxing, you have the two largest boxing fan bases in boxing, and you have each country bringing in their number 1 popular fighter.
This isn't Cotto fighting Rubio or Canelo fighting Rosado. These are the two biggest names for each country. The build up will be huge.

Showtime knows they'll have a hard time competing with that.
