There is no way in hell Showtime is going to risk losing more money by going head-to-head if Canelo and Cotto fight on that date. It makes zero business sense and GBP/Arum would have no problem putting it on the same date if Mayweather secures it first because they know which fight the fans will be watching, with the one exception as everyone has said, if Mayweather fights Pac. Mayweather's ego is between a rock and a hard place. He has to give up the date and lose face or fight Pac, and give up his stance against working with Arum. Checkmate GBP/Arum which goes without saying because Mayweather's new promotional team has no one with great experience promoting big fights. For his newly licensed team to take on a big fight is like a kid out of college wanting to handle surgeries for celebrities over a a doctor with 25 years of experience. No go.

I know. It's not a guarantee that Cotto would fight a Mexican on Mexican day as the A-Side.

Thurman doesn't have the fanbase that Cotto or Canelo has and would sell less than either Maidana fight

These are his numbers for his Diaz fight

Showtime hopes the third time’s a charm, as in the final leg of three straight weeks of live boxing action. Floyd Mayweather returns to action this weekend, as

The only one that would force Cotto vs Canelo to another date is Pacquiao which if Floyd wants to get paid makes the most sense cuz there could be a rematch in Sept

Yeah, they both believe they are the A side which makes things very difficult when egos clash over who is the bigger star.

Mexicans dont give a *** about canelo unless its in texas for 10$ seats
Your post makes no sense on many levels.

First of all, Canelo nor Cotto will be guaranteed what Floyd made so the numbers don't have to be as high as Floyd's to break even. Secondly, if Canelo (Mexican) fights Cotto(Puerto Rican), both sides will be lining up for this fight NOT Floyd vs cherry pick.

Finally, there are no names in the horizon that can make Floyd/Showtime confident if Canelo vs Cotto come to terms. Everyone besides Manny do not draw as well as a Canelo or a Cotto.

Mayweather doesn't really care, he's getting 32 mil regardless. Showtime is the one who should be worried
