Your post makes no sense on many levels.

First of all, Canelo nor Cotto will be guaranteed what Floyd made so the numbers don't have to be as high as Floyd's to break even. Secondly, if Canelo (Mexican) fights Cotto(Puerto Rican), both sides will be lining up for this fight NOT Floyd vs cherry pick.

Finally, there are no names in the horizon that can make Floyd/Showtime confident if Canelo vs Cotto come to terms. Everyone besides Manny do not draw as well as a Canelo or a Cotto.

i didnt even mention breaking even or making money, all i said was if canelo is such a draw why is he getting 300 buys when hes been on the biggest stage vs the number 1 draw of all time. So my point stands mexicans dont care to pay for him but theyll love him for free

Canelo lost that fight against Floyd for one and secondly, his first fight back were 2 losers mixing it up. The second one was against someone who does NOT have a big fan base, doesn't have a fan friendly style and most casuals never heard of him. Still, those numbers meet expectations and didn't hurt Showtime as much as Floyd's relatively bad numbers would.

Even casuals know Cotto. Then combine it with both are now on a winning streak and its a fight between 2 who have a decent fan base and are from rivaling (boxing) countries it makes sense. They don't need to do as well as Floyd vs ? because Floyd is guaranteed $32 million whereas Cotto nor Canelo will be guaranteed those kind of numbers.


If they come to terms then it's a no brainer. The risk falls on Floyd/Showtime. Even promoting the fight, who are they going to get to do as good a job as Tope Rank or GB? To many variables.


Oh yeah, now add it being in May .... would definitely be a plus to Canelo vs Cotto PPV numbers.

I really think Floyd cares about canelo possibly fighting may 2nd. Dude is GUARANTEED at least 32 mils, so he's getting paid regardless. Floyd has two possible match up that could up a potential canelo - cotto fight; a fight with pacquiao or a rematch with cotto. A rematch with cotto would derail all Canelo's hope of a may 2th ppv fight, and also is a fight that would surpass, I believe, 1.2 mils ppv buys.
