Of course he had a choice. He could have fought his mandatory, another Murat type fight, and kept milking his title defenses while he waits for Stevenson.

And Lol no Showtime did not reject a Hopkins vs Stevenson fight that's absolutely ******ed. Team Stevenson, or Al Haymon, whatever, were stalling for whatever reason, maybe they had a date in mind for 2015 rather than this year. Whatever the case SHO certainly didn't reject the fight.

Or just fought the mandatory then Kovalev afterwards. That's what I wish he'd done. Fighting Kovalev first means he's very likely going to lose his title just 2 months short of his 50th birthday.

Being a world boxing champ at 49 is an awesome achievement, but there would be an almost magical significance about still being champion at 50.

Kind of like the first 4 minute mile. 4 minutes 59.9 seconds is only one tenth of a second faster than 5 minutes dead. But that one tenth of a second difference caught the imagination of the whole world back in 1954.

It says in the article. Nutjob Muhammadi, something like that. Basically would have been another Murat type defense, easy win.

Can't even bare to think how dull Hopkins-Muhammadi would have been.

How do these guys get into mandatory positions?

it's the IBF, they always have these obscure fighters fight eliminators, in this case it was Muhammadi vs Dudchenko for the mandatory spot back in June.

It's time to go to work, Klimas understands that. The time for respectful platitudes has been and gone.

Bernard Hopkins already said that he would not fight Andre Ward.

1st off the fight is next week. no need to try to keep selling it! 1) Showtime never turned down a Hopkins / Stevenson fight because it was never presented! Haymon was trying to stall Hopkins so he would get stripped and his fighter Stevenson could fight for Hopkins vacant belt for leverage! Kovalev's ignorant manager wasn't even privy to the fight until Kathy Duva presented the contract to him and Kovalev the day before Kovalev's last fight !! Props need to be given to Hopkins because Haymon never thought that Hopkins would go across the street to HBO to make a big fight, see Haymon's fighters are in a Jam and like to hide behind the network BS, well Hopkins just put them all on blast because he is a GBP fighter and he made a fight - So all of the Quillin's / Jacob's / Danny Garcia's etc need to stop with the BS... Kovalev's manager is a piece of shyt, because once the fight wa signed and ready to go he was all smiles, now he wants to talk slick - Hope Bhop krushes these fools, stay humble..

No choice! I hope BHop beat this guy. So he can be crying like Robert Guerreo and Maidana coaches were when Mayweather whupped them.
