The best version of Toney i.e. the one that destroyed Barkley, Prince Charles or Tim Littles I would favour over GGG any day. That guy was one of the most naturally gifted fighters I ever saw.
Less than four years into his career, he had wins over Nunn, Reggie, and McCallum. He also had Tiberi. The great and the WTF were already there. GGG hasn't been in a pro ring with anyone as good as Johnson yet, much less Nunn or McCallum. There isn't anyone like that at 60 right now but getting stuck in an early rut with Universum cut him off from a better pool at 160 a few years ago. He may have to go to 168 to give any validity to comparing the two. Best versus best, we're talking the Toney who faced McCallum against what? The guy who beat Macklin? There's just not the same proof in that pudding yet.

I completely agree. As I said in my original post, the best Toney I've seen beats the best GGG I've seen. But all i'm saying is that nobody has been good enough to actually test GGG really. Say he fights Ward and wins, I'd have to revisit this thread.

From what we've seen of both guys' best performances - Toney wins.
