    Fighters who exceeded your expectations?

We always have topics about fighters that you thought could become great fighters but disappointed. Lets have a positive one...

Which fighters exceeded your expectations, not necessarily in specific fights but in their careers?

Carl Froch is one, Before he was a world champion, i thought he was a good fighter but i never thought he would be one of the top fighters in the division and respected around the world. Even after the Pascal and Taylor fights i thought he wouldn't go much further.

I suppose Maidana might be in there too. Even at points during his career he looked to be on the way down. Now he has given himself a really good platform and name after beating Broner and giving Mayweather tough nights. Even though he lost those fights with Floyd, who would have thought a few years ago he'd be in this position now.

For me, it would have to be Andre Ward. He's come a long way, now he needs to stop fighting in the court room and start fighting in the ring.

I guess Maidana as well and Danny Garcia most definitely.
I give them credit but I still feel both have overachieved already.

Absolutely sick and tired of picking against Danny Garcia.
Pretty sure I picked old Morales to beat him, I definitely picked Khan & expected Matthysse to rip his head off.
Just one of those guys who never looks great but finds a way too overcome all odds.

Maidana because he beat my boy AB. Never thought he would do that.

Recently Shawn Porter in the sense you would never have guessed he'd become a world Champion.

Others Tim Bradley, Danny Garcia, Stevenson.

Carl Froch of course, thought he'd lose to Taylor, Abraham, Dirrell, Bute and all with ease and he pulled out all victories.

I never ever imagined he'd have the career he has.

Amir Khan with his Glass chin, I mean he was supposed to be finished after Prescott and then Garcia and yet he keeps grinding. A true champion.

Maidana is also a great name.

Carl Froch is most definitely up there.

Orlando Salido has definitely improved so much.

Bute was a protected investment. The only time he stepped up as a World champion was Froch and got smashed to bits. Some people like to stretch things and say oh he beat Sakio Bika after he won his WBC title, but that's when they were both contenders.

Exactly. I got called racist on here(by the poster who calls everyone racist who says something negative about a non black fighter) because years ago I said Bute was a big hype job who hadn't fought anyone. Said he'd get wrecked as soon as he stepped up against the best and look what happened.
