This is a fine post to start my own opinion with because this is 100 % true. Roy did fight two of the best with no caveats unlike Mayweather but the Ruiz fight is a big ole red herring because that was easy money. What Roy and btw Ward managed to do, was to outclass guys who were hitherto considered prime, at the top of their game.

Mayweather by comparison even when he fought the best never outclassed a great fighter at his peak. Ebven if he won...it was close and by the time he got to De La Hoya and others....they were past it.

Nobody came close to ever outclassing Hopkins, or Toney....not even since.

You don't think Mayweather outclassed Corrales,Canelo, Guerrero? These guys were at their peak when Mayweather beat them. Not taking anything away from Jones but when you have guys like Tyson and Hopkins, rank Mayweather in their top five of all time greats, that alone says a lot. I've never heard anyone say that about Roy. Since Roy, Toney has gotten his ass beaten

Ruiz would be more like Floyd fighting Jermain Taylor or Peter Quillin when he had a belt

RJJ completely skipped cruiser to fight Ruiz for the WBA belt

Floyd would have to skip 160 and fight Ward at 168 for the WBA belt for it to be even

Or if he wants the WBA at 160 its GGG

Roy took risks in the ring and entertained throwing combos and a real variety of skills. Floyd throws single punches and performs the same moves every time round. Resume wise Floyd ducked too many fighters. Roy on the other didn't have as many good fighters around his weight at the time. Talent wise i'd say Roy>Floyd

Both are talented fighters but you're comparing the Mayweather of today to the Jones of the past. It's better to compare the Mayweather of yesterday to the Jones of yesterday and you'll see they both put on a show. Floyd's talent is what carrying him today, as his physical attributes start to diminish. Roy got by because his physical abilities were much better than his opposition. Once they diminished, his talent alone couldn't carry him. Talent wise,Mayweather by far

How when you factor in the weight.
froch isnt numver 1 but has a belt like ruiz.
we could say its kovalev if you really wanna talk weight.
                    do the match.
could floyd beat belt holders at 160 168 or 175.thats a fair assesment

                    Kovalev froch or GGG.

Who ever thinks Floyd's legacy is better is an idiot, RJJ has wins against James "Lights out" Toney, and Hopkins.

Theres no one in FLoyds resume than even comes close to this level of competition.
