Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Khan Wants Statement Win With Alexander!

AMIR KHAN has been told to put in a stunning display against Devon Alexander if he wants a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr next summer.

The British welterweight takes on his fellow former world champion on December 13 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay.

Khan, 27, was due to face Alexander last December when the American was still IBF champion.

Floyd will probably duck Khan anyway.. He's not fighting a fast fighter in his lifetime.

Alexander has it spot on when he says 'to see who is catapulted to the next level' they both now have bad loses in their history's and another loss here would be hard to live with.
This is a good match up with both fighters having so much to prove. I am sure like Alexander said Khan would have sooner gone in to a Mayweather fight but he's obviously been advised this wouldn't wash ...history speaks.... but this will be one to watch and see where both fighters really are in this division as both had bad loses at lighter weights.

So Khan is fighting the guy that was beaten by the guy that Brook just beat? (all in their prime) And this is supposed to be some kind of huge statement?

"We are on a different level." - Amir Khan talking about Brook in 2014.

        I agree.

khan has to get past devon first, to even be considered to fight floyd next... and i doubt he will... khan has recently struggled with way, way, way lesser fighters then devon alexander! this is a 60/40 fight in favor of devon imo... hes just a technically better fighter then khan and in this case id pick sharper skills in devon over a faster but chinless amir khan...

So the fight that was supposed to on the first week of December last year is happening on the first week of December this year.

Decent fight, I think Khan wins.

I think I had Alexander before when the fight was originally scheduled now I lean towards Khan by decision.

Maidana lost everyround to Alexander and still got the Floyd fight.

That's true...after Maidana won the WBA WW Title from Broner. He didn't get the fight coming off a loss from Alexander, in fact I can't remember the last time someone got a fight with Floyd, when comng off a loss.
