This makes me wonder why the hell no one watched Golovkin/Geale, which was a more competitive fight on paper.
Jennings vs Perez was a stinker and would have caused all but the die-hard boxing fans to watch something else.

GGG always pulling in respectable numbers, and he does it without the hype/phony personality, just hard work and hard shots.

There's plenty of hype around Golovkin don't be delusional. Were it not for the hype he wouldn't be getting all this attention.

Good news for the axeman. Great night to have his breakout fight.

I'm talking about broadcast hype. HBO doesn't have to lie and talk up GGG, his performances speak for themselves. The hype you see is fan hype brought on by the aftermath of his KOs.

Of course HBO hypes Golovkin, why wouldn't they? They're paying his purse and need to sell him in order to get him exposure and ultimately more views. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, every fighter needs hype.

It's not even close to how Showtime or even HBO themselves used to do. GGG hype is like a stew, all the ingredients are already there, bubbling - only thing left is to serve. Showtime hype is like fast food... "I'm loving it". Broner, About Billions Served.
