HBO put on two great fights last nite. The only reason this wasn't ppv is it didn't have any ballerina involved !!!!!!!!!!

talk about a gunfight, brih. FOTY written all over it, especially now that nonito's granite chin looks to be wearing out.

if doniare is willing to become a second tier fighter, he can still be in entertaining fights and make money. he'll never be a great again, doe. that's my take on it, anyway.

donaire's a great example of a fighter with an unheralded chin. dude's power always eclipsed it. he had a freaking iron jaw in his prime.

walters - doanire was a hell of a fight.

        rubio - golovkin?

rubio showed up overweight, and collected a check.

he did the same thing aginst pavlik, but he made weight, IIRC. he literally cried in the corner in teh pavlik fight, and quit.

people forget that fight. rubio layed a freaking egg, and was shunned. either people forget it, or they're new to boxing.

i'm glad kellerman called rubio out. HBO payed a lot of money for that fight, and rubio insulted them.

Another case of a fighter who has incredible talent, but who was thrust out there given super star like accolydes without perfecting his craft. Setting up punches defensive skills, etc. It also happened to Juan Ma and it happens everyday.

When the Cuban gave him a boxing lesson....that was the time to go back to thge drawing board and try to develop skills. These guys are just brought along too fast, with no depth! These guys need to take a page from the old days, fight long and hard, learn how to use all your weapons and, even if its not your specialty know how to do everything! If for no other reason it will show you why it works against you.

If I see another young talented guy like Juan ma, Donaire, etc lose a career due to not being a student of the game I think I will cry.

donaire is a student of the game and very well schooled, he just fell in love with his power at some point. he still managed to accumulate one of the best resumes of his era

                    what are you talking about?

donaire has been a world class fighter since he stopped darchinyan in '07. this is his 5th weight class at the world championship level.

doniare is not a young fighter. he's in his freaking 30's, and headed for the hall of fame.

i don't think you watch much boxing, frankly.

I thought Walters telling Donaire he could be his sparring partner was just as bad I don't think he meant it to be disrespectful more the opposite but you just don't do that.
