I agree with Loeffler, it's farcical really. Cotto hasn't even fought at 160lbs yet.

The history buffs point to the whole lineal element, but everyone knows the real deal. Lineal (the man who beat the man etc) would hold more weight if the the man fought the next best man instead of avoiding the best and selecting an opponent of his own choosing.

Mind you, if Golovkin loses this weekend Loeffler and those who agree with him lose the high ground on this.

martinez ducked GGG so he could fight Cotto instead. does anybody seriously doubt that GGG would have obliterated martinez if martinez hadn't gone for what was seen as the easier bigger money fight.

Everybody knows the deal. GGG is the best 160 pounder on the planet. Cotto is holding the lineal belt to ransom. reminds me a bit of the Liston patterson situation from back in the day.

GGG/Liston is terrorizing the division and is clearly the badest man out there.

Patterson/Cotto is champ and is running from GGG/Liston like Usain Bolt on roids. Everybody knows he would be obliterated if he dared get in the ring with the real man.

It's pretty obvious Golovkin is the best MW in the world, but no one will give him the fight to make it official.

It's solely because he's the Lineal Champ.

Everyone knows Golovkin is the best Middleweight at the moment.

Triple G is the best pound for pound fighter in the world. He has a great amateur background, has power, work rate, and can take a punch...

Mayweather won't fight him at 154.

            Sergio wouldn't at 160.

Canelo wants no part of Triple G right now (waiting for Triple G to get older).

Triple G, unfortunately, has come onto the scene at a bad time and wasted many years fighting no names because the top guys were ducking him...

Triple G needs to move up and fight Ward if that's the only fight that can be made... Triple G is in a desperate position for a high profile fight..

Cotto will fight Canelo in May or Jun and after the crushes him he will fight GGG in Dec.

Now, think about it for a second, if Cotto were to pull the victory over GGG...what will BS haters will say? "GGG was green", "he was overated", "GGG was a hypejob", etc. Just like it happens each and every time Cotto beats someone.

No credit will be given. After Canelo and/or GGG.

I disagree. IMHO, The best P4P in the world is Rigo.

Cotto should be ranked ahead of GGG as he is the lineal champion. But the majority thinks GGG is better and would win head to head which I would think GGG and his team and fans are comfortable with.

I think Cotto would be more inclined to rematch Mayweather if he crushed Canelo. That's the fight the fans would want and I think he would want too.

Cotto is simply rated above him due to the lineal belt, like it or not, it's just a rating. I don't think there are many people that consider him the best middleweight right now. Let the guy at least defend the belt he won in JUNE before using slanted bias to tear his career down.
