In fact, there was an article last week where his team was already sort of hedging saying they will be fighting in May regardless of the opponent. I was surprised to read that - So, there is definitely going to be a power struggle in negotiations and Cotto has the upperhand. Cotto is in the proverbial cat bird's seat with both Canelo and Floyd.

True....but it may be that Cotto is just not playing his cards yet until the money is right. It would be a huge money-maker for he and Canelo and the opportunity to wrestle that date away from Mayweather's eternal stronghold.

Cotto is waiting to hear from FMJr. team, Im sure that's his priority fight. If that does not comes true, then its Canelo.

if nobody is fighting at mgm on that date why go to NY? when we all know that mgm is the mecca of boxing and thats where the money is... and we are not just talking about cotto's money, but everybody else involved in that fight...
that fight deserves to be at the mecca of boxing on the biggest boxing date period..
