If Vitali didnt get cut vs. Lewis

Vitali was still performing at a high level with the cut. It wasnt his choice to stop the fight and he was still beating lewis even with the cut is what i mean

The cut was caused by a legal blow and that can't be denied. The threadstarter's question was what would have happened if Vitali had not been cut and that will never be known so it's just a matter of personal opinions.

That cut was created due to a Lewis punch yet you make it sound like a bad excuse for a win ...... then in another thread that I just finished reading from you, you say that you hate guys who come up with excuses on why they lost.

it was obviously a win fair and square as the cut was caused by a punch but I always hated when fights were decided that way as cuts are typically caused by grazing punches

Point is that this is a very ****** argument that doesn't work. In no way would Vitali ever have a gruelling fight against Lewis and not get his face destroyed. Why? Because Lewis is the only man that could ever consistently punch him in the face hard.

Vitali has weak skin, but nobody could take advantage of it. The only other man to hit him a couple times was Sanders and after wobbling Klitschko he also cut his face up.

Just think about the amount of blood Vitali lost during those rounds? At this pace, there was NO WAY he was gonna come out on top with all the punishment he had already taken and the loss of blood.

The Lewis who wasn't even at 100% was getting his second win and was gonna put him out of his misery soon after.

actually it was lewis that was coming on in that last round and took the round but it appeared he totally spent himself in the process. I remember him slumping down in his corner with a look of resignation on his face but vitali didn't look much fresher so its hard to call

It has been many years since I saw that fight but I do remember being very sure that Vitali would have won if the fight had not been stopped. Many on here think Lewis would have gone on to win cut or no cut and maybe they are correct. Differences of opinion on fights like this help keep boxing interesting. I am a big fan of both Lewis and Vitali. Both are great heavyweight champions to me. Two of the very best. Lewis was pretty old for that fight and well past his prime.

I have to disagree here. hard punches aren't what usually cause cuts. its the grazing cuffing shots like what lennox landed that opened the cut. I believe it was shown on replay on the sky sports broadcast. I don't think vitali has weak skin he just got caught with an unfortunate punch. that said I don't know who would have won the fight had that cut not happened. they were both gassed but lennox did seem to totally blow his wad in that last round the way he slumped onto his stool

yea,,,,,this topic never seems to die. a rematch would have put an end to any controversy but I cant really blame lennox as he was getting older and didn't wanna risk his legacy

2-Vitali had SEVERAL CUTS caused by SEVERAL DIFFERENT PUNCHES. To act like all that damage was just 'ONE unlucky punch' and that it's the only thing that caused it silly fanboyism.

The one slicing punch caused a huge gash around the brow, true. But he also cut Vit under the eyes on several places, blooded his nose and also cut up Vitali's mouth. klitschko has weak, pale skin and also a prominent brow ridge. You guys know what a brow ridge is? It's the bony area that cover the eyes, that makes it much more easy for you to get cut. Lewis doesn't have that nor the weak skin which is why he didn't get cut around the eyes in that fight even though he took good shots from a huge HW.

Vitali is destined to bleed in this matchup no matter the timespan. He'd never beat Lewis.

Honestly i thinkv Vitali was winning even with the cut and i think he would have won a decision. On the other hand i just see lewis winning a decision. But i favor Klitshcko more he was really handling his business against lennox

I think Lewis would have quit on his stool, even though he in his own words was getting better with age, just like fine wine.

Too bad he chickened out and didn't offer the rematch like a real champion would have done. His mommy told him not to ever fight big Vitali again, and the mommy boy listened.
