    THIS^^

An accurate and OBVIOUS summation of events.

I like Lewis as much as Vitali. I followed both careers to the tee. And what I saw was a superior warrior in VK beyond question!

His eye was a mess. It happened due to receiving a punch. It's like saying, what if the fighter didn't get KOed. Well, he did and lost.

As for Lewis, Lewis was doing better as the fight went along. The only thing in question was Lewis's shape as he looked out of shape in that fight, as was mentioned several times by the HBO commentators.

Sure, if you are a fan of a fighter, you always wish the "what if" situation but at the end of the day, you can't change history. It happened and it was all legal.

It was just funny that I read you say in another thread how you hate fighters that make excuses when they lose and here you are doing the same.

I think Vitali would have stopped Lewis from how the fight was playing out.

Vitali started well, but Lewis was settled by the time it was stopped and was landing enough to convince me that the tide had turned.

But it was an odd question to begin with TBH. Its like asking "if Floyd didn't land so many punches vs. Maidana"

Lewis' punches damaged his face enough for the stoppage. Thats it.

This is what Lewis thought too.

Lewis by KO. He was just getting his second wind and Vitali looked like a broken man at the end of round 5.

I've seen one punch KO's being called lucky but to claim that an effective right hand that caused deep cuts is "lucky punch" is beyond laughable. Go check this video out @ 1:17 it's the punch at the start of the third round

And watch the rest of the video too to see the amount of brutal power punches he was landing on Klitschko. Almost all the damage was on the left side of Vit's face too showing how much Lewis was landing his right hand.

Klitschko would always get his face torn apart against Lewis. He is not used to getting smashed in the face by a big HW like that. Lewis caused two or three cuts on the brow that exposed his skull, 3 very deep cuts on the cheeckbone, a gash on the lips that were also swollen and a bloody nose. 90 stitches and needed plastic surgery to fix it. He lost a ton of blood. If you really are going to attribute ALL of that to "one luck punch" then there is no talking to you guys.
Excellent post. A little flawed, but by and large well-founded!

Vitali was brought in as a substitute for Kirk Johnson. Vitali was holding more than Lewis in the end of the fight.

Lewis busted him up, a well trained Lewis for a rematch with Vitali would have the same ending

Amazing performance by Lewis. He was very low on gas but he was still finding his target easier than Vitali.

Lewis was landing the more effective blows IMO and starting to find a home for his power shots as the fight progressed and starting to really tattoo Vitali. I admit Klitschko was hustling and showing heart but this is professional boxing. Lennox's shots were professional boxing punches. Klitschko was throwing many amateurish shots, i.e. arm punches.

Compare their faces afterward. Lennox looked unmarked whereas Klitschko looked like he went through a meat grinder.
