So Flash is the dog in the fight, huh? Been a while I'd guess since he has went into a bout as the betting underdog.

Does anybody remember the odds for the Rigondeaux/Donaire fight? Donaire was the favorite, no?

How do you guys feel about Walters being the slight favorite on a lot of online betting websites?

I knew this would be viewed as a close fight, with Donaire being viewed as having lost/left something in the ring after the Rigo fight.

And as he continues to go up in weight, he loses more and more of his best weapon - his power. Against the big beasts at 126 like Gradovich, and Walters, Donaire no longer enjoys that very noticeable size advantage he did at 118. I feel at 122 - he peaked; he was at his most natural weight class (i.e. where most boxers are when cutting weight).

Now at 126 against Walters, this will be the first time in his career where he's the smaller fighter - and by what appears to be a pretty decent gap. I still think Donaire has the more "explosive" power, but Walters is more heavy handed.

But Walters is still relatively unproven, having only beaten an extremely undersized Darchinyan (dude is tiny at 126) - heh literally one of the smallest featherweights against one of, if not, THE biggest featherweight. And he appears to have those concrete feet, and just average fundamentals, and technique.

This is actually one of the more anticipated fights of the year for me. I'm 50/50 on this one. I see the fight playing out with Walters stalking, and trying to trap Donaire, and air him out on the ropes, or catch him clean in an exchange. With Donaire initially trying to outbox him, and use his jab a lot more than we've seen off the back foot... But eventually reverting back to planting his feet more, and trying to unload that left hook with timing.. This could get him stopped... Damn I just can't wait to see hwo it plays out.

Hard to believe just 2-3 years ago, Donaire was being touted as a top-5 pound for pound talent, who would likely go all the way up to lightweight and win titles.

Now, I don't see him going past 126 and having success.

I think we'll see tomorrow night exactly how much Donaire has relied on having a drastic size and power advantage... ANd his lack of fundamentals will really start to show.

But he does have exceptional intangibles, which makes this an even fight...

Let's go Donaire with a late KO after Walters fatigues, and Donaire once again lands that left-hook from hell with perfect timing.
