Roach received a good offer to head over to Moscow to train Povetkin for the fight, but he passed on the opportunity because he was hired by Miguel Cotto to train him for a fight with Delvin Rodriguez in Florida - and both fights took place on the same October date.

Wlad should've been DQ'd, and that's just being honest.

the ironic thing is wlad made it harder than it had to be with all his clinching. he actually hurt povetkin at will and literally held him up from falling a couple times with clinches. that fight has always left me scratching my head. don't know what the hell wlad was thinking that night. terrible gameplan

he should have been warned and then dq'd if he continued with it. my hunch is that wlad wouldn't have kept fouling if he was warned. the ref was every bit as guilty as wlad for letting him get away with it. I agree that wlad was awful that night and I almost dropped him as a fan

Has Roach ever trained a heavyweight before?

I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch with a fairer ref but it will probably never happen.

The ref was bad, Wlad was bad, but Povetkin didn't endear himself either..he didn't fight his way out of the clinch as hard as I expected. That was key because he was the one with the inside game. He lacked urgency and I guess Roach probably could help him in that area. Either way Povetkin is still a real good HW

Does Roach really believe he could get Povetkin ready to beat Klitschko in just one training-camp? OMG the guy is full of it! Hes a verry good trainer but no magician.
