Comments Thread For: Roach: With Me, Povetkin Would've Beaten Klitschko!

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach believes that he has the perfect strategy to defeat heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko (62-3, 52 KOs). Last year, Klitschko was challenged by mandatory contender Alexander Povetkin (27-1, 19 KOs) in a battle of Olympic gold medal winners.

Roach received a good offer to head over to Moscow to train Povetkin for the fight, but he passed on the opportunity because he was hired by Miguel Cotto to train him for a fight with Delvin Rodriguez in Florida - and both fights took place on the same October date.

As Razor Ramon would say: Don't sing it. Bring it.

If Roach things he can train someone to pound Klit then he should prove it.

If you can't win a round against a guy, I don't care how good your next trainer is. But Roach does match up with Povetkin pretty well. Be interested to see them work together. He'd have been a better choice than Atlas.

He was a joke in that fight. I'm not sure what Roach could have done other than to tell Povetkin to hit Wlad low to prevent his holding.
