Nothing like the first fight. You could see the Margarito's punches in the first fight starting to really take effect as early as round 4. Even in the last round of the second fight, it was probably Margarito's best round and he still lost it. He just wasn't giving out nearly as much damage as he did the first time.
Margarito vs Cotto 2? Without the eye issue

I rewatched it last night and honestly cotto had a better game plan this time around so he was able to hold Margarito off a lil longer this time but he was still gettting tagged and Margarito did catch up to him and that last round looked to me like cotto was spent and ready to get got.Comment

Yea, the NYC doctors saved Cotto big time in the 2nd fight. Honestly though, Margarito shouldn't even been let in a boxing ring in the first place. Dude had one eye.Comment

Ok, I saw it LIVE, I saw a replay and then I saw yet another replay. Just to be sure, questions like this would receive a proper answer.
In this first fight, from the start Cotto started off very good but Margarito early in the fight was landing on him and they looked like hard shots. In the second fight, Cotto had a proper gameplan which worked excellently. Margarito just didn't do enough damage to Cotto who was measured and active at the same time. Cotto was slowing down a bit towards the end of the fight BUT it's not like he was gassed, he was still moving and he was still active. It was nothing like the first fight where he looked like he had been hit with a sledgehammer after a few rounds.
The Cotto we saw in the first round vs Margarito is the best Cotto we have ever seen but Margarito took that Cotto away from us. He was never the same after that fight.Comment

That's the same reason I don't think Margarito would have had anything for him. This time around, even if fatigued, Cotto could do all of the things I mentioned, even spoil if need be. Before his only resort was to fight Margarito off or keep moving, a lot different this time around.I rewatched it last night and honestly cotto had a better game plan this time around so he was able to hold Margarito off a lil longer this time but he was still gettting tagged and Margarito did catch up to him and that last round looked to me like cotto was spent and ready to get got.Comment

cotto would have still won, but the one who changed for the rematch was margarito, margarito was just alot slower now, his pressure in the first fight was immense, the margarito after the layoff was strong as hell, but he was alot more of a punching bag, not to troll, but he was alot slicker in the lower weights, aswell as faster, probabley threw more, haven't looked at the punchstats
but vs cotto he was just to heavy to punch on the move/chase like he used to and i guess he never really learned how to cut off the ring, he was stronger but most of the time he'd wouldn't even try with his punches, but when he did you could see the power, his only good punch in that fight was one right hand and it visibly hurt cotto
prime margarito would still had beaten cotto i thinkComment

Put that flag down for a minute and stop acting like Margarito would have won the first fight without plaster wraps.Comment
