Yeah but Danny always made it known that he was puerto Rican american, Viloria never did until Pacman blew up.

It happens all the time. Boxers will go with whatever will give them a bigger fan base.

If Irish fans were the largest in boxing, Canelo and everyone else in boxing would be claiming Irish ancestry.

I'm almost 100% positive Tagalog (or whichever dialect) was prevalent in Viloria's household, and I know Nonito can speak it well.

Them dudes is Filipino. I have a friend who immigrated from Guam at a young age, but he's a Filipino.. his language, actions, behavior, and culture is Filipino. I could say the same thing about a friend who came to the States in 7th grade from Hawaii.. he was born in Hawaii and displays its culture it gave him, but he no doubt recognizes his Filipino bloodline.

So what is it shame? if its not a boxing related decision to all of a sudden have Filipino pride what is it? only other thing is they were ashamed to be filipino.
