No Ali did not say he had Arab blood, he change his *slave name* to a ****** name.

Not necessarily Ali, but the people he was associated with. Elijah Mohammed in particular. And, there are interviews where Ali claims Arab lineage. Not sure why he said that, but I do know that his Irish ancestry is easier to trace than his Arab ancestry.

Elijah Mohammed, who had a profound influence on Cassius Clay openly claimed Arab ancestry and that is why their religion was Islam. They could have picked Voodoo as their religion or the Egyptian religion of Cosmic Worship, but they went with the Arabs.

Yes. I am deliberately mixing up the terminology. I'm a Roman Catholic Buddhist who refuses to eat lechon and believe the essence and many of the rituals of religion are all the same to me, particularly the Abrahamic practices.

Danny Garcia wasn't born in Puerto Rico but it doesn't mean he isn't part Puerto Rican. He has Puerto Rican blood in him. He is trying to rep Puerto Rico.

You can rep your heritage and your country of residence, bro. Are you offended that Brandon Rios and Chris Arreola come out out with the Mexican flag even though they're American?

If you're fighting in the Olympics for the USA, it wouldn't make sense to be going hard for Mexico/Phillipines/Haiti all the damn day. Once fighters go pro, they look to reconnect with their ethnic heritage as they try to build their fan base up.

I thought I heard he renounced his faith and converted to Islam just to avoid being drafted in the military and he could have many wives as he want?

Viloria straight up said he was Hawaiian American lol. Dude had to be the smallest Polynesian I ever seen.
I live in Hawaii so just seeing his name Viloria, I knew he was Filipino.
About 1/3 of the state is Filipino.
Anyone who is from Hawaii, who has family here for generations, knows that all immigrants came here for a better life.

I'm not sure about that. As Cassius Clay he was classified as A4 on his military test and deemed unfit to serve. When he became Muhammad Ali, the Military changed their mind and determined him FIT FOR SERVICE.

The Military had no intention of sending Ali to war. They wanted to use him to inspire troops and motivate them the way Joe Louis did during his time of service.

"Avoiding" the draft, i think, was just a by product of converting to Islam.

Obviously because of Pacquiao's rise and in hopes of retaining some of his fans to become their fans. There's no problem with it to be honest. The Mexican American boxers do it all the time. It's just extra fans to gain, nothing to lose.

See but if you're a guy like Alvarado who comes out to rock music waving the American flag, you'll be branded an American pocho for life. He can never rock a Mexican flag again, especially after quitting.
