And trust me im pissed at Sergio not Cotto. Cotto came and did what he had to do. Sergio was the one who signed up for a fight (and payday) when he knew damn well he shouldn't of.

He looked like absolute garbage against Murray BEFORE the knee surgeries.

No disrespect to Cotto, but calling him the Lineal Middleweight champion right now is a farce. Everybody knows it. He will never fight at 160 or against a true 160 fighter.
I know he was selling it but if u talking **** u better back it up. He got whooped so **** him.

Well because he said he plans on fighting again if his knees are healthy, I would say no he didnt cash out. I would say Sergio was really hungry for marquee names to fight him, never really considering the consequences of his knee and other injuries. He finally got the fight with Chavez and now wanted Cotto. I believe Sergio knew his knees were doneskees but still believed he could beat him. The name fighter against him also represented a big payday, so you can't fault him for taking the fight.

A pre-12round Chavez fight Sergio would of made a great epic fight with Cotto. Unfortunately, we wil never know.

Yes the hooks landed, but that was not all Cotto. THis is like another Yuri Foreman win when he had the kneee problem as well, this is a case of "he did what he had to do" against a injured opppenent.
People are just mad it was Cotto that came and smashed him. Everyone was calling for Sergio to man up and fight GGG so he could get killed. Instea Cotto came and did it and ppl are mad about it. He wasn't 100% like i said but Cotto would have beaten him anyway.

B but but Martinez is bigger, stronger, faster and fought the bigger guys in his career. Most rere's on here were in Sergio's favor but had the Knee as an ace in pocket.

People are only mad it was Cotto because everybody knew Cotto would just hold the Lineal title hostage and never fight real middleweights after (nor should he, the guy isn't a real middleweight).

Guess what hes doing now. GGG is the true heir to the middleweight crown.

Martinez took this fight in a heart beat because deep inside he knew he was done. Almost every segment on 24/7 about Martinez had to do with his health.
It was painfully obvious he was done when Cotto was physically stronger than Martinez, he was getting bullied by a smaller fighter.

I also think he was hyping himself up. That his experience, size, power and whatever legs he had left were enough to give Cotto a good fight. This isn't a knock on Cotto though he still fought a brilliant fight. I'd like to see him actually defend this title though.

Not the first time in history this has happened to a fighter but some of these kids paid a lot of money for their Sergio is God poster and can't seem to let it go.
I don't think calling people out is being a bully, he was looking for the most profitable fights
And besides nobody wanted to fight him.he called manny out ad manny didn't take the challange even though sergio was willing to come down in weight to fight him same with cotto. Kneeguel waited till sergios knees were damaged and 1year and a half layoff till he accepted the fight. Now kneeguel will not defend the belt he got from sergio at the weight
He won it at, he will defend it at a weight that is confortable for him....for you

Like a lot of people have said, I think he thought he could still pull it off and people here on NSB thought so as well.
Obviously he knew he wasn't 100%, but what was left(size, power) would be enough to beat Cotto, he forgot to think what Cotto still has.(timing, boxing ability)
I also do think he needed to make big money and that was a factor in making the fight. Dude, came in to the ring looking like a scrub. MW champ, walking to the ring with only him and his trainer, wearing a pair of shorts that looked like they just bought at Walmart right before the fight.
I don't know how expensive the surgeries were or if he took a loss bringing that fight to Argentina, but Sergio looked like he needed some cash.

I see you are still impressed with Margarito's plaster wrap ring assault of "Kneeguel" huh? Back to reality, what made Sergio a bully was his burning desire to call out SMALLER fighters. Karma caught up to Sergio in the form of a "Kneeguel" punch to the mouth. "Kneeguel" caused Sergio to seek counseling after the loss. Had Sergio believed it was his "knee" he would NOT have needed a therapist to help him cope with his loss.
