Of course we all know that if Sergio was at his best Cotto would have never come knocking on his door anyway.
Cotto flamed that trash talking b1tch!

Dudes just wanna hate on Cotto and act like Sergio was Sugar Ray Robinson. Cotto represented a skill level Sergio had yet to really experience. Faster than Chavez Jr and not having Sergio's Roy Jones imitation on fight night. He got clocked. He then went to therapy to deal with his ass whoopin. Sergio benefitted from fighting slower guys with suspect skills. Williams is the best name on his resume. Haymaker victories don't make for greatness.

Yep. Truth is, Sergio made a good bully. Loved calling out little Manny and little Cotto. Went into this fight thinking "I am taller, I win." Needed a therapist to cry on by his own admission after he was beat down by Miguel. "I got caught cold and never fully recovered." ~ Sergio

Not the first time in history this has happened to a fighter but some of these kids paid a lot of money for their Sergio is God poster and can't seem to let it go.

No, he thought he would win. Him taking the biggest money fight on offer is not exactly rare in boxing. Martinez still wants to fight.

Sergio hadn't fought a smaller, faster guy in a long time. Cotto is better than the guys he was fighting too. Miguel done be in the there with Floyd, Pacquiao, prime Margarito (the plaster using version Ofcourse) Cotto rocked him and that was it. Had GGG did it though it would have been ok. Dudes just made Cotto went up to middleweight and made history real quick.

Nope, it was a cherry pick gone wrong. Cotto taxed that ass.

Exactly. Not sure how anyone can bash Martinez. He payed his dues, worked his way up, won the titles, faced Paul Williams (who many at the time said would beat everyone), defended his titles. More importantly is a good ambassador for the sport, classy and a good sport even in defeat.

But lets be honest, Cotto would have had no interest in fighting the same Martinez from two years earlier. Freddie Roach knew that Sergio was ready to be taken and pushed for the fight.

How is this even a debate still?

The entire 24/7 segment was about Martinez's knee. Yet Cottotards still act like Martinez was completely healthy lmao.

Martinez cashed out and I guarantee you he never fights again. If he does its gonna be against some guy that's 17-3 with 4 KOs.

Absolutely. It was embarrassing to witness. All credit to Cotto, but Martinez had no business in there other than a great payday.
