Since when was it your opponents job to sit still and make you look good? It's not Lara's fault you are limited as a fighter and don't know how to cut off the ring, or you gas out throwing wild combos that have no chance of landing on someone that uses foot work.
He embarrassed you now get over it. He moved just as much againt El Perro and he was able to cut off the ring and land on him so whats this guys excuse?

Your either elite or your not, Canelo should learn to use all the aspects of boxing and stop complaining when his opponents don't sit still to let him hit them. Tired of these mediocre limited fighters complaining because real boxers won't fight down to their level. You don't want to lose to boxers or look like crap against them, STEP YOUR GAME UP!!!!

Great post. Some people want boxing to be a "one style fits all" sport. Unfortunately for them that will never be the case.

Lara knew he was only going to get one shot at that, and really he didn't play to win that event. He had to go above and beyond to even have reasonable shot of beating Canelo like that and he didn't even do a good job he did worse than Dirrell did against Froch and I never saw people clamoring for that rematch.

He needed to do a lot more to force the issue a close fight was never going to be enough in his case. It is a lesson to a lot of good fighters never get but Lara had his own two judges in that fight and he certainly failed in making those two judges decisive even if you think he did more.

Real talk though he fought Lara's fight and still beat him in most peoples eyes. As limited as he is cutting of the ring it was still enough to beat Lara. I don't understand how people don't realize Alvarez would rather box in the middle of the ring than chase opponents.

Let's just assume he's a brawler though and didn't alter his style to fight Lara. Hey but I'm gonna run if you can't catch me that's on you.

You said it, and that was my issue with Lara. Canelo on the other hand has no right to criticize him as it is not Laras job to make him look good. He should have cut off the ring better or learn to move if it was that big an issue.

Exactly, He fought lara's fight and he did what everyone said he couldn't do, which is apply pressure for 12 whole rounds and cutting off the ring somewhat lol without running out of gas. That is another thing everyone said that he would be gassed. LOL but apparently its not Lara's job to TRY and outbox canelo in the center of the ring its canelo's job to chase lara. "Hey Canelo im going to beat your face in, but you have to try to catch me, I bet you can't chase me for 12 rounds"

He didn't beat him. He was awarded the victory yes and I can't argue with that because in that situation Lara would have had to completely outclass him like Floyd but Lara went long stretches without throwing punches.

What I am saying is that he can't complain like Lara did something wrong to him. Lara is not there for you to showcase your so called skills. If you can't pin him down that's not his fault its yours.

Well in this case it just makes sense that Canelo would do that, it is what it is. Lara is what he is and he did his thing and it is on Canelo to change that if he doesn't like it.

Still I would expect him to talk smack about it but it is not really s good look because it clearly shows that Canelo still has issues with Lara and it is hard to be the man like that. Somethings are better just to make people forget and that fight would be a prime example of something Canelo should just want the fans to move on from.

Lara did something wrong for himself. reminds me a bit of all Haye's talk calling out wlad saying how he was going to batter him and then spent the whole fight running and refusing to engage. At least lara didn't blame a broken toe, but anyway you cut it it was lara's big shot and he blew it and stank the place up. Why would Canelo give him another shot when now nobody wants to see it anymore?

Can you admit that lara shot himself in the foot with his stinky performance on his big night?

This is very true, and I would expect Golden Boy to be very careful in Canelos future matchups. He clearly is not an every-style type of fighter. If they want to build his image they will stay away from cerebral fighters as not to damage his brand.

From a fan perspective as well, it simply doesn't look good when he is in there against guys like Lara or Floyd. Canelo doesn't know how to fight boxers that aren't super aggressive. The Lara fight was trash from an entertainment stand point and business wise, the two should have never been matched up.
