If Provodnikov really was the intended opponent at first, then the complaints about this fight happening is totally pointless and can't really be considered a cherry pick.

Maidana wasn't even in the radar until Maidana beat a guy that fought 3 divisions below him a little over a year earlier and went down to 140 after that. Maidana lost to Devon, a boxer, so the writing was on the wall. They promoted Maidana as a KO artist but then took away the gloves that he prefers to KO his opponents. SO it was Maidana that did better than Floyd expected. Some cherries can go bad.
For the 2nd fight, they added a ref that didn't allow in-fighting. Huge ring. A judge that gave Maidana little credit in the first as a judge in the 2nd

You can't say anything bad about Manny's opponents except for his upcoming one since nobody knows Algieri. Algieri is the same formula that Floyd throws at us. If Manny had taken on Abregu, the talk would have been that Abregu is Bradley's leftovers and that Abregu has not done much of anything recently.

If you carefully look at Floyd's recent opponents, they were all hyped off of a fight. Even then, it was not much of a win for the opponent.

Maidana - Honestly, why did he deserve a Floyd fight? What did Broner do at WW that made you say, WOW!!! Did you look at the Devon fight? Well, it looked like FLoyd vs Maidana 2!

After fighting Floyd, Guerrero has done very little. Ortiz has yet to win a fight. It's all smoke and mirrors. Get them while they are hyped!


Floyd fights these relatively slow, flat-footed fighters that make Floyd look good. To get that extra edge, Floyd fights in a huge ring, puts pillows on them or demands a CW even though they BOTH have titles at that division!
