No surprises here. Avalos had been mandatory for a while and had been chasing the fight, tired of waiting he fought for a IBF mandatory spot. Weighing up the options he's chosen to pursue the Frampton fight which will probably earn him double the money.

There was an article in Spanish a few days before the purse bid with one of the guys from Caribe saying how Top rank and Golden boy were going to be at the purse bid and were very interested in the fight though he was confident Caribe would win because they were putting in a big offer for the fight...............turns out no other promoters turned up and their offer was only 300k what a joke.

I've been a fan of GGG since 09. For years he was fighting for peanuts and nobody wanted to fight him. He's only just started making money and selling tickets and up until this point people are still hesitant to fight him and he ain't earning the money he deserves.
By the way if being offered multi million dollar offers isn't in demand I don't know what is.

This right here, surely they have a plan B as it was always most likely Avalos was going to drop out. But knowing Caribe there isn't a plan B

          1. The fighters you mentioned had nations following them
          2. They definitely would have been even more popular if they were middleweights.

They are just regurgitating BS from Dan Rafael blogs and Bob Arum press releases. The destruction of his career began long before the Donaire fight.

Top Ranked signed Rigo to a very generous deal. He got $500K minimum per fight . However, they ran into some issues because Rigo had a conract with Caribe Promotions.

In 2012, Rigondeaux was scheduled to fight Marroqin. However, the fight was in jeopardy because Caribe sued Rigondeaux for breach of contract. Caribe had to work out a co-promotion agreement with Top Rank which Arum was not happy with. Off the bat, you had tension between Rigo's co-promoters.

Then came the Donaire fight. It's no secret who Top Rank wanted to win. When Rigondeaux won, Arum had a problem. A fighter who he had to co-promote and share revenues with. After the Donaire fight, Top Rank offered Rigo a slot on Zou Schming undercard a couple of months later. But Caribe being the geniuses they are rejected the fight because they felt that Rigo should have been headlining and receiving a higher purse than Zou Schming. The guy that's selling THE ****ING TICKETS!!

So now Arum is pissed. It's no coincidence you see him destroying Rigo in the media and talking about how unmarketable he is. To shove it up their ass, he says "OK, I'll let you headline." So he gives him a fight in Atlantic City, on the same night as Judah/Malignaggi up the street in BK, and makes him headline after Glen Tapia, the guy that sells the tix. The fight completely flopped for obvious reasons.

To minimize his losses, Arum gets him the Sod fight, throws it on the Macau card, gets it on Unimas so he can finish out his contract.

So now Rigo is a free agent. Haymon, Top Rank, GBP, Frank Warren and Roc Nation were all interested. Roc Nation had million dollar offers on the table, Warren had million dollar offers on the table and I don't know what everybody else offered. But the problem is, Caribe is Rigo's main promoter. They are looking for a co-promotional agreement. The reason they want this is because they have no money, they have no experience and they have no connections. They want to be a co-promoter to have their names on the banners and take a percentage of Rigo's purse. Roc Nation, Haymon, GBP, Top Rank, Warren, etc. etc. all want to be exclusive and knock Caribe out of the picture. And it makes sense. They are putting up all of the capital, they have all of the connections and they need complete control to properly market them. Why should Caribe even be in the picture? Because Caribe insisted on being a co-promoter all of these deals were taken off the table.

And that's where we are now. Nobody wants to work with these crooks.
You've hit the nail on the head with this comment

Yes Mayweather is defensive and sells, but he's the exception. Most fighters who sell, do it with their style.

And I don't doubt his promoters are the idiots, but it was his choice to sign with them. He had a big promoter in Top Rank, and even they couldn't get him fights. HBO didn't want to broadcast Rigo. It is why when Rigo fought Agbeko, Arum was in Rigo's locker room telling him HBO execs were watching and that he needed to entertain. Rigo didn't give a ****, and is now suffering the consequences.
Rigo only sin was to destroy and made the fighter of the year cash cow of Arum looks as he is, a fool. After that Arum never forgives him. Rigo made Arum to loose a lot of money. Also Cubans doen;t close their mouth to injustice. Rigo attitude towards Arum was always saying the truth and not letting him abuse of him. Now he is paying because among cowards, promoters and also dirty judges this sport is not anymore an sport of mens instead of cowards. Unless Rigo sings with Haymond he will suffer to get a good fight, because arum's hate is to much for him. But if he is hated for being the best of the world without submission no problem with it. Rigo won;t get a lot of money, but Arum and Nonito neither in this division until some more years when Rigo get old.

Rigo has done nothing wrong. I think that Arum is bitter he spoiled Donaire and took his cash cow. I, for one, do not find Rigo's style as boring as most people. Rigo should not get this kind of treatment for refusing to resign with a promoter that bashed him as an in house fighter publicly.

Leo will fight him, but the promoters will not let him anywhere near Rigo.
