  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux's Manager: Avalos Proves To Be Cowardly!

It was a surprise Thursday when Chris Avalos pulled out of his Nov. 22 title fight with Guillermo Rigondeaux. But maybe it shouldn't have been.

After all, the Cuban boxer has had a helluva time getting people into the ring with him. He's called for more unification bouts, but has been unable to secure a dance partner. Rigondeaux's next bout is his first since the expiration of his contract with Top Rank, and Top Rank is the co-promoter of Avalos, thickening the plot. Avalos is also the manadatory for Carl Frampton; Top Rank and Eddie Hearn (who now co-promotes Avalos) are aggressively pursuing that fight.

Get the **** out of here. Rigo is unpromotable. Roc Nation wanted to promote him and even they couldn't work with his promoter Caribe. The dude is allergic to making money apparently.

If you're a great fighter, you'd better have fans. Fighters who know they're outclassed generally like to get paid to lose.

Rigo ducked Avalos first. They turned him down last year when Avalos was willing, and the clairvoyant Gary Hyde (Rigo manager) predicted that Agbeko would stink up the place, but chose to fight Agbeko instead anyway.

GGG is what Rigo fans wish he was: in demand.

I never understood that... It's funny that they call him a coward now but when they decided to go for Agbeko over him Avalos was left out in the dust. Now that the fight is much less lucrative and Avalos has the opportunity to chase bigger paydays against lesser champions they choose to call him a coward.

Rigo's camp has their head's too far up their ass to realize the sport is moving on without him. DAMN IT! WAKE THE **** UP RIGO!

Except that GGG actually sells out arenas. His fight with Marco Antonio Rubio sold so well that they're adding standing room space to the StubHub Center to accommodate. Golovkin pulls bigger numbers with each fight.

Nobody is working with Caribe. I'm done talking about this until he leaves them.
